INDIGO

We ran through the tunnels, the lights flickering above us. I steadied my shaking hands. The presence of the Raven headquarters above me did nothing to calm my nerves.

Only a few hours ago, when we reached Chicago and hid in a hotel, Nisa managed to visit Streeter hideouts which informed her of the tunnels running beneath the entire city. They claimed all of the tunnels led to the Willis Tower. Whenever regular Streeters tried to explore the area, they ended up dead or unwilling to divulge their findings.

I guess the Crowns were right. The Ravens were in the Willis Tower.

Nisa managed to pull and memorize the locations of the tunnels and marked them down on a few stolen maps for the rest of us. I had to admit, I was mildly impressed.

Ahead, Wolf and Nisa came to a halt.

"We're here," Nisa announced and nodded to a side passage. "That should lead us to walkways inside the Willis Tower."

As if on cue, shouts and gunshots rang from above.

"The Crowns," I whispered.

Wolf nodded. "Stick to the plan. Indigo and Cree, find the prison cells and bring back Eveleen and Nydia. Nisa and I will track the Crowns and keep a close eye on them. Only engage if absolutely necessary. We're not equipped to take on a full attack, so we can't attract too much attention. The Ravens should be occupied with the Crowns, but we need to get in and out before they win or leave. We clear?"

I nodded.

"And don't forget to keep your comms on," he continued. "They most likely won't work once we're inside, but keep them on just in case. We don't know if the Crowns will take down any of the jammers, but if they do, we can use the comms to coordinate."

I nodded again and pressed my earpiece, making sure it was still on and active.

"Great. Let's go."

We split up, Nisa and Wolf continuing down the big hall. Cree and I ran down the side passage, approaching a door. The comms were already starting to fuzz in my ear, becoming more and more incoherent static with every step I took. I held my breath. Just on the other side was the home base of the people who were pulling this nation's strings behind the shadows for years. And we were heading right for them.

The comms fell dead. I pushed through the door.
