"You should just listen to Dad and me, and do your job as you always have." Whatever left of his strength was drained by Illumi, sucked out of him like mosquitoes would have devoured someone's blood. The bone-chilling voice of his brothers crawls into his ears, so much like a snake that would and could strike him, end him, whenever he wanted.
"When the time finally comes, I'll order you to take the Hunter Exam. You don't need a license, yet."

Akira (third) p.o.v
After the fight with Illumi, it was like Killua was a husk of his former self. We all tried to get him to snap out of it. Especially Gon was worried, and angry at himself. For not being able to do anything when Illumi threatened us. Even though she tried to convince him that he shouldn't feel frustrated about it, because it happened to her, too. She, too, wasn't able to move a muscle under Illumi's gaze, wasn't able to do anything but helplessly watch as he tore into Killua's insecurities like it was nothing. She saw, however, that Gon still felt frustrated, like he could've done something to help his friend.
It was frustrating and sad simultaneously, because she saw how he fretted over Killua, who didn't, couldn't, wouldn't respond to Gon, Kurapika and Leorio even though they tried about anything they could think of.

Eventually, Leorio had to leave to fight the seventh match against Bodoro. She swallows nervously. This is it, her only chance to do things right, to save someone. It seems like Bodoro has recovered from his match against Hisoka. She grimaces in sympathy for him. Hisoka hits hard. Bodoro tries to hide it, but even she can see that it's still hurting him. Especially when he tries to stretch his back, his eyebrows furrow for a second, but it's quickly gone. She breaths in deeply through her nose. Her eyes flicker over to watch Killua from the corner of her eyes. He still is out of it, not moving a muscle, but that will change just as fast like a snap of the fingers.
Doubt crawls in de the back of her mind, but she shakes it off. Now is not the time, she has to save someone. She cracks her fingers in anticipation and closes her eyes in concentration. How did she see the blue lines again? Maybe they could help her. She continues to breathe in through her nose and out through her mouth, her breathing slowly slows down, her heart rhythm goes slower just as well. Her mind goes blank. She opens her eyes again. Baby blue eyes are gazing into nothingness, completely empty and hollow. Nothing like the bright look from before, full of life and happiness.
"Begin!" Shouts the referee.

Third p.o.v
"Begin!" The referee shouts, bringing his arms down. Bodoro and Leorio take their fighting position, fully prepared to go against each other. Before they can, however, the atmosphere takes a nosedive below freezing. An ominous aura is emitted from behind Bodoro. Killua's face was blank and passive. His nails has sharpened as the veins is his hands stand out against his skin, looking like they will erupt at any moment. Bodoro feels like his blood has frozen, his eyes are wide and panicked as he feels like he's rooted to the ground, unable to move. He's going to die. Is the only thought that passes through his head.
Kurapika's eyes widen as he realizes that Akira isn't standing next to them anymore. There is a strong gust of wind and they all see someone speed past them, black hair flutters in the air. The pressure of the wind forces a lot of people to close their eyes, the few ones that don't, stare in surprise as Akira appears in front of Killua. His hand is stopped by something invisible. Even from this distance, Kurapika can still see Akira's face just fine. Can still the blue of her eyes. They are bright, brighter than normal, like the ice cold water in the winter. A shudder goes up his sine. There's no ounce of warmth and life of what her eyes normally look like. At this moment it feels like she's less humane. His fingers and toes feel like they are frozen and stiff as he stands there. He manages to turn his head, and sees Leorio and Gon are not doing any better.

No one moves.

The room is filled with a constricting silence as Killua and Akira stare each other down. The voice of Akira makes Kurapika feel like it's chilling him to the bone, rendering him immobile.
"Stand down." Even her voice doesn't sound like her anymore. It doesn't sound humane. It was as if she was someone else completely, waiting to be let out, hidden behind a layer of human skin. The black-haired girl was kind and funny in her own way, it was easy to talk to her, too. In the short time they got to know each other, she was nothing but cheerful and playful to the point it could be obnoxious to people who didn't know her.
Kurapika thought Akira was just that, always playful and funny, never really taking anything too seriously. He knew she had her serious moments, had seen a few himself. And he could understand that everyone had their limits and bounderies. So obviously Akira had them as well. However, he didn't think that it would turn out like this. He didn't think that Akira, the playful girl, could look like this. That she could look so terrifying and inhumane. She wasn't smiling, there wasn't a playful glint in her eyes, there wasn't a shred of the cheerful girl Kurapika was used to. And Killua. Killua looks none the less terrifying than Akira. His gaze has a different kind of empty than Akira has. It gives off a sinister feeling, when he caught a glimpse of Killua's expression. They are both still standing there, Leorio and Bodoro have stepped back in order to make some room. Leorio looks put off, like he's not sure if he' seeing things correctly. The referee is hesitant, stuck deciding if he has to interfere or stay a safe distance. Killua has remained silent the whole time. The black-haired girl steps closer, getting into Killua's face. Her face could make someone's blood run cold. Her lips are pursed into a thin line. Killua felt the hair on his arms stand up.
"I said, stand down." Her voice is smooth, but is ice cold. It's coldcoldcoldcoldcold- The narrowing of her eyes seems to have petrified Killua, who steps back, his own eyes has widened and some warmth has returned to them. The thing about Akira was that while she could be very joyful, seeing her expressionless face up close was frightening. And it made Killua panic. Seeing someone so upbeat and happy all the time - and weak, someone that could slow him down, be used as a hostage against him - all of the sudden standing so strong and tall against him. As if the meaning of assassin didn't mean anything to her, as if, as if he didn't almost kill that guy. Fear and panic seizes him, and with that last thought circling through his mind, he turns around and dashes away with his tail between his legs. The room was filled with a suffocating silence as Killua ran out of the door. The door closes with a harsh click.
"My dudes, is he alright?" Kurapika flinches at the unexpected voice of Akira and faces her again. Concern and worry are laced through her face - the cold disappeared like it melted under the sun - as she comes over to them. Examiners and applicants are watching her alike, some with hidden caution, but more with interest, like she's a specimen they have never uncovered before. Especially Hisoka, his golden eyes linger on Akira as she joins Gon and Kurapika. He seems to know Kurapika is watching him as he gives him a slight smile full of....something dark, something Kurapika isn't sure he wants to know, and waves. Gon stood in front of Akira, there's a hesitant going in his eyes.
"A-Are you alright, Aki?" He asks, voice soft but it sounded so loud since the room was filled with silence. Akira gives him a confused face - as if she just didn't look so cold and deadly a few minutes ago -.
"Sure! Why not?" She tilts her head and closes her eyes as she grins. Akira's expression and body was oddly calm and relaxed as she talks to Gon. Like she didn't just face off Killua moments ago. Like her eyes weren't so ice cold that it felt like the room had turned the winter, freezing and biting at their skin. Kurapika has so many questions. How was currently ranking the highest.
Gon still was dubious about it, but worried about their friend, went with Akira after Killua, wanting to bring him back.

In the end, Bodoro resigned from the whole exam when the referee asked if they wanted to continue. Meaning that both Killua and Leorio passed the exam, even when Killua wasn't there. Kurapika felt the beginning of an annoying headaches throbbing in the back of his head. Even though Kurapika wanted to go with Akira and Gon to find Killua, he followed the rest through a door into another room. Leorio was also confused and dubious about the whole ordeal. Kurapika couldn't blame him.

He was sitting on one of the wooden benches, still processing what happened with Akira, Leorio sitting behind him when the door they went through bursted open. Gon stood in the opening, visibly furious with Akira skipping behind him, looking a tad too cheerful when Gon was standing so serious in front of her. Akira didn't bother to hide her expression either, the way she smiled felt like she had all the answers in the universe and wasn't going to share it. Gon didn't bother with pleasantries while Akira waved cheerfully at them, also at Hanzo and Menchi, and even at Hisoka. Kurapika couldn't tell what she was thinking as Gon and Akira made their way downstairs. However, Gon's expression told him that things were about to go down. So, Kurapika mentally prepared for it.
