"Those kids are trouble," Chad remarked as the three watched Bea interact with the VKs in front of Finn's locker. "I don't like Bea hanging around them."
"Or maybe it has something to do with that guy hanging all over her?" Audrey suggested bitterly, a laugh present in her tone.
"Bea knows what she's doing," Benny said, ignoring his friends' commentary. "If she wants to risk everything on these kids, there's no stopping her. That much should be clear by now. Least we can do is support her."
"And let her get taken advantage of by those delinquents? That's not my style," Chad said darkly.
Benny tried to stop his forward pursuit, reaching for his shoulder, only to be pulled back by Audrey. "Hold on, now, Benny-boo. I wanna see this."
Chad returned a moment later after speaking to Bea and, after a quick goodbye to her new friends, the future queen herself joined her group. "You three are ridiculous," she said. "What exactly did you expect when I made this proclamation? That, as soon as they arrived, I'd just hang them out to dry, ignore their presence? That's not how this works! You three can doubt them all day long, but someone has to look out for these kids. It's not going to be their parents, so I'm going to be that person to encourage their talents, discourage their bad behavior, and help them become who I know they can be. And if you don't want to support me in that, then stay the hell away from me."
"Bea-" Benny tried, but she'd stomped away before he was able to.
"Look at Little Bea. Finally growing some balls. Never thought I'd see the day," Audrey commented, excusing herself from the group. Chad followed along, leaving Benny to ponder after the four villain kids.
He leaned up against the railing looking over the courtyard and waited for more students to file out, including all but one of the villain kids. Once Finn was left alone, she found her way down to one of the courtyard's round picnic tables and pulled out a textbook. Chemistry, Benny realized. One of his best subjects, but one most of the student body struggled with, especially his sister. With their competitiveness, Benny always reveled in the fact that he had one subject he was always able to best his twin sister in. Nevertheless, he'd spent countless hours over the years tutoring his sister in science subjects enough to get her past the class. A familiar, confused line grew between Finn's eyebrows as she stared down at the textbook, one Benny'd seen on his sister's face countless times.
Benny heaved a sigh and made his way down to the courtyard. From over her shoulder, he saw a different book hidden inside the textbook. It was open to a large-form picture of Fairy Godmother's wand, bookmarked by a recreation likely from the villain kid's hand. "Why are you hiding a magical history book?" Benny questioned.
At the sudden noise, Finn jumped and slammed both books shut. "What are you doing here?" she asked, quickly attempting to regain her cool.
Benny's eyebrows furrowed as he took a seat a few feet away from the girl. "Truthfully or diplomatically?"
