A New Beginning

Chapter 9

Ava

I woke up feeling great Cole spent the night. I know I had fun exploring him last night and I know that he had fun exploring me. I'm still laying in bed when I hear the doorbell. I got up and put my robe on and went down stairs to answer the door.

When I reached the door I looked through the peep hole. I saw my dad Dave and stepmom Susan. I open the door.

"Yes."

Dave "why, in the hell wasn't we invited to Lilly's bday party?"

Susan "we had ever right to be there since we're family too."

"Lilly made the list of everyone that she wanted at her party."

Dave "why in the fuck would you let her pick people that would come instead of inviting everyone.?

"Lilly wanted to help with her birthday party when we were making  a list of everything we needed."

Dave "She is fucking 5 now are you going to do everything she wants to do?"

I noticed Cole standing behind my birth dad and stepmom.

Cole "Lilly is allowed to help with her birthday."

Susan "who in the hell are you?"

Ava "he's none of y'all's business."

Dave "if he is around our granddaughters then yes it is."

Cole "I'm Ava's boyfriend and the last I knew you wanted nothing to do with your daughter and granddaughter."

Dave "you can't listen to everything Ava tells you."

Ava "you tell more bullshit then shit a toilet takes in a day no actually in a year."

Dave "you watch that smart mouth of yours."

Cole had groceries in his arms and says "I'm gonna take these in the kitchen and put them away."

Ava "just leave there is nothing here for you, either of you."

Dave "I want to see Lilly."

Ava "Kevin will always be more of a dad then you'll ever be and Lilly is his granddaughter not yours. He took me under when you threw me away like a piece of garbage because I was having sex."

All I know is that my face went left and my cheek hurt. I can't believe he slapped me.

Lilly "mommy are you ok?"

Lilly comes running from upstairs down to the door.

Lilly "get away from my mommy you hurt her. Cole, Cole this man hurt mommy come."

Cole comes running to the door from the kitchen.

Cole "leave right now and don't come back and if you ever lay and hand on Ava again you will have to deal with me. The only reason I won't deal with you now is because I need to be here for my lady and Lilly. Now get off."

Cole slammed the door in there faces. I couldn't believe he slapped me I held me cheek as I felt he heat and burning coming from it. I had tears falling down my cheeks. I didn't realize that I was sitting at the kitchen table still in shock.

I felt my lap getting wet and I looked down and saw Lilly's head on my lap and I saw her back shaking so I knew she was crying. When I looked up Cole was on the phone and getting an ice pack ready for me. He looked like he wanted to murder Dave.

"Lilly baby why are you crying honey?"

Lilly "mommy, (sniffle) some one hurt you (sniffle)."

"Baby, I'm gonna be ok honey that man isn't coming back around."

Lilly "mommy, can you, me and Cole watch a movie together?"

"Sure, baby but you need to make sure Cole doesn't have anything to do today."

Lilly "Cole, can you hang to chill and watch movie with me and mommy?"

Cole "sure, I can sweetheart."

Lilly "I want to watch the movie in mommy's room and cuddle on her bed."

"Ok Lilly we will do that. What do you want to watch?"

Lilly " I want to watch the corpse's bride."

I look at Cole and he looked at me and then we followed Lilly up to my room.

Lilly had us laying down with her back to my front and my back to Cole's front that's how we all laid cuddled on the bed.

Half way through the movie my phone buzzed so I looked at it.

Mom "Kevin and I are coming over we need to talk."

I looked over my shoulder and saw Cole reading the message. So, we get up and I pull my throw blanket up and over Lilly then we leave my room and head for the door when we hear a knock.

"Mom is everything ok. Kevin what happened to you?"

Kevin "that sorry son of a bitch sperm donor will never lay a hand on you again."

I just looked at him and out of know where I burst into tears because I always knew Kevin loved me like is but until this moment I can really feel his love as my dad and that makes me fall to my knees and cry.
