A New Beginning

Chapter 10

Cole

I stayed back and let Kevin go to Ava even though I wanted to be the one to pick her up but they needed this.

Sally "I take it that she finally sees how deep Kevin loves her?"

"Yeah, I believe so."

Sally "that's so magical to see. For a good while Ava didn't have a dad to care for her like Kevin does and that means the world to me."

"Well, I can tell you it means the world to Ava as well."

Sally and I just watch Kevin console Ava and watched them talk.

Sally "I just bailed Kevin out of jail because Kevin went to Dave's house and just started beating him for laying a finger on her. When you told him what happened I thought his head was gonna explode. I never saw Kevin that mad before. I thought he was gonna murder someone. Then the next thing I know he is gone out of the house and I have Kevin calling me from the damn jail. The first thing he says "is I'm sorry then says no I'm not because that mother fucker won't do it again". So, after I got him he told me what happened and I lie to you not I wanted to turn that car around and go beat that bastards ass myself but I didn't because he said he took care of it for our girl."

"Wow, damn that's deep."

A few minutes later I see Lilly walking down the stairs rubbing her eyes as she sees me and her grandma Sally and then she sees her mom with grandpa Kevin and she runs over to them.

The thing I know about Lilly is that she loves her mom like no other. Ava has done a fantastic job raising Lilly on her own even though she may have had some help from her family but she still did a fantastic job. Lilly is definitely a mommy's girl.

Lilly was hugging them when her mom said something to her and she came running to me.

Two weeks later/Cole

I walked in Ava's house she knew I was coming over. I heard her and Lilly laughing so I just stood by the corner in the hallway and watched them play. Hearing them laugh is amazing and I'd do anything just to keep hearing that sound.

But as I watch I see Ava is tickling Lilly's feet and stomach. Then I hear them talking.

Ava "so, tomorrow you are going to start school honey. What do you think of that?"

Lilly "I don't want to I want to stay with you."

Ava "baby, mommy is going to school too. I'm going to finish all my classes in school instead of online. I know you like to hang with me but it's something we need to do. I'm sure you are going to make friends and have a great teacher.

Lilly "mommy do you really think I'ma make friends?"

Ava "honey, yes I do you are a great person to be around and if someone doesn't want to be your friend then that's on them not you because you are a best friend anyone could ask for."

Lilly "really mommy?"

"Yes, really your mom won't tell you know lie sweet cheeks. If I had to choose between you or your mommy. I would choose you as my bestest friend ever."

I look at Ava and see she mouths thank you and I just nod my head because to be honest it would be a tye between the two of them.

Lilly "I'ma pick my clothes out for tomorrow then."

She takes off.

Ava walks over to me putting her arms around my waist and gives me a kiss. Then says "thank you for helping with that and I was wondering if you were going to stand over there all day."

"I don't know what you were talking about by standing there all day. But your welcome for the rest. I came back because since I'm just finding out your gonna be in school with me starting tomorrow. But anyway there is a dance tomorrow at the school and I wanted to know if the prettiest lady in the world would go with me?"

Ava "yes, babe I'll go with you only if you stay the night?"

"There is no if honey there is always coming to be a yes for you but it really depends on the situation."
