When Dana woke up early the next day, she already felt her period cramps. Although she just wanted to curl up into a ball, she sleepily forced herself to stand up and go to the bathroom. Her cramps always started before any major bleeding which was convenient for alarm-reasons; she needed to put a pad in because it would otherwise end in a mess. After that she went back to bed. Curling up and trying to continue to sleep, knowing it was the best she could do right now.
Four hours later, it was now 11 o'clock, Robert decided to wake the girl, finding her in the fetus position she had chosen previously.
"Dana?" He stroked her hair. "Dana, wake up."
The teenager groaned, feeling her head throb.
"Is everything okay?" He sat down on her bed, tilting his head.
Dana pressed her fingers on the bridge, hoping it would relieve some of the pain she sensed on the right side of her head, the pain making her nauseous. "I have migraine that links with my period."
Robert stood up again. "Okay. Do you need anything? Pain killer, hot-water bottle or anything else?" He felt reminded of Susan during her first pregnancy, when Exton caused her quite an uncomfortable journey with morning sickness and all.
"A pain killer would be nice. Maybe an ibuprofen?" Dana asked as another wave of nausea washed over her. "Excuse me." She sprinted to the bathroom, rushing to the toilet to throw up. Robert quickly followed her to keep her hair out of her face.
"Fuck." The girl cursed after wiping over her mouth and flushing the toilet. "Sorry." She sat next to the toilet, leaning against the tiles.
"Don't apologize. If you're okay, I'mma get you your ibuprofen now." He smiled sympathetically.
"Yeah." She sighed. "The pain is the reason for the nausea. Thank you, dad."
Robert just smiled, still not over her calling him dad, and left to get her the pain killer.
While he went downstairs, Dana brushed her teeth to get rid of the sour taste in her mouth and got dressed. She quickly chose black jeans and a white top, feeling not really fancy, and put her hair in a low bun. Then she decided to go downstairs while dialing Charlie's number; it had taken her a minute to figure out the time in Germany, but 11 plus 8 equal 19 o'clock which was a decent time to call.
"Hi, babe. I just wanted to call and ask how you are. Call me. Bye. I love you." She left a message when Charlie didn't answer. She sighed when she made her way to the kitchen where she found her dad who just filled a glass with water to go with the pill.
He handed her the glass and the ibuprofen when he saw her. The girl plopped the pill in her mouth and flushed it down with the water. "Thank you."
"You're welcome." He answered observing her closely, thankful she hadn't overplayed her condition like she did with her mental state, when Avri ran in giggling and cheering.
Dana swept her of her feet, putting her on her hip. With her finger over her lips she signaled the little girl to be quiet. "Can you be a little quieter for a few minutes, Avri?" She asked her sister softly. "It hurts my head right now but we can play in few minutes. Okay?" The little girl nodded solemnly and started to stroke Dana's hair.
Robert's heart swelled with love seeing his two girls interact once again as if they knew each other for years. After watching them cuddle for a few minutes, he started to get a bowl and cereal to make Dana's breakfast, knowing it was completely of her mind once again.
