X-SLEEPWALKING

Her feet hit the floor, her socks soaking up most of the cold, she didn't shiver though.

There was a level of awareness to her. Not enough to allow her to notice that right now, her body wasn't hers. But enough to tell Aesara that something was wrong.

She was able to see out of her eyes, but they didn't move the way she wanted them to. She was able to move, but not in the direction that she wanted to. What was she doing up? Her feet took her to the door, her hand raised and twisted the handle, swinging the slab of metal. It squeaked against its hinges.

She walked down the hall, tracing back the way they took to the cafeteria. She went through the open door, walking to the end. Turning to the right, she noticed the doors that Jansen and the kids went through were open. With no hesitation she went through them. Aesara had no idea where she was, but she let her feet take her. Not that she had any other choice.

She kept walking until she stopped at the end of a hall, hearing people's voices. They were talking about a serum, but she wasn't really sure of the rest.

They walked past her, but didn't acknowledge her. She frowned and tried to call out to them. Her lips didn't move. Did they really not see her?

She followed them down the hall, stopped when they did at a door. They had gurneys, each one held one person with a hologram type thing above the body covered by a sheet. One of the people in the lab coats opened the door, sliding a card through.

It opened with a hiss allowing the doctors through. She tried following them through the doors but bumped into something that wasn't there. What the...? Before the doors closed completely she caught a glimpse of something in blue liquid. There was another door beyond that, the doctors going through. She wasn't able to see what was through there. She stepped back and everything turned black.

"Aesara, how are you falling asleep? You slept through lunch." Minho poked at my side. I groaned and slapped him away.

"I feel like I didn't sleep at all though."

"It could be because you were roaming the building last night." I sat up at Newt's words.

"What?"

"Tommy said he saw you walking the halls, when he and the boy over there were spying on these people." He pointed to the boy about a couple tables away. He was studying an apple. He sat alone with his hood up.

Thomas turned to me quickly, making me jump back a little into Minho. "Aesara you were there, tell them what you saw."

I shook my head. I thought that was a dream. A really vivid one. But I had actually been walking around. "All I remember were these weird things in vats with blue water."

"What about the doctors taking the kids on the gurneys through there?"

"Thomas-" Newt was cut off by said boy.

"Aesara, did you see that?" His eyes searched mine. They were pleading with me, begging me to take his side.

There was no way I was gonna go against him, not when I know now what I saw was true. "I did."

Thomas turned to Newt, giving him an "I told you so" look. He then turned to the front, where Jansen had entered, reading off a list of names. "I want to know what's behind those doors."

"Until we know anything for certain, we should just keep our heads down, and try not to draw attention to ourselves, all right?" Thomas nodded like he was going to follow that, but Newt should have known, it's Thomas. He slammed his hands on the table and stood up, following the kids, trying to walk through the door. "What is he doing?"

"I think he's drawing attention to himself." Frypan shifted.

We all watched as Thomas was stopped by the same guard as yesterday. They talked, but this time it got violent. The guard shoved a finger into Thomas's chest and it looked like he tried hugging the guard, who pushed him back.

The boys ran after him, catching Thomas before he could fall, but I couldn't move. My limbs were stuck to the bench. What was wrong with me, was it because I was so tired?

It was when Jansen came back and tried to calm the situation when I was able to move again. He had made direct eye contact with me. I frowned and stood to my feet.

Everything swayed, people and objects doubling. I felt like vomiting. I tried to sit back down, but my hand slipped on the seat. I fell to the floor and hit my head against the table.

It got silent and I didn't know if it was because everyone just witnessed what happened to me, or because the loud ringing took up most of the space. What is happening? Black dots spread across my vision, covering everything. A pounding ache started at the back of my head, moving its way to the front. The last thing I remember was screaming and then I was out.
