XI-NEVER RUN THROUGH SAND

My head spun and I felt like throwing up. A loud blaring sound created a massive headache so powerful I want to bang my head against a hard surface. This was all before I opened my eyes.

It was someone bright, at least for my eyes that haven't gotten used to the light yet. I turned my head groggily when hearing familiar voices. They were blobs at first, but when my eyesight adjusted they became my friends. And...Teresa! She was okay.

Newt ran up to my bed. "Oh My God, Aesara I'm so glad you're okay."

"Newt? What's going on? Where am I?" It didn't look like my room with the empty bunk beds.

"We're having ourselves a jailbreak." He smiled, but it was more to settle the mood. "But we have to go now." He took the tubes off and out of me, helping me sit up.

"Where are we going?" My shoes were by the bed, so I slipped them on and followed Newt to the main room.

"Not really sure, but out of here. I'll explain later, or Tommy will."

As soon as I got to Teresa I hugged her. "What's going on?"

"I have no idea."

"Alright, we have to go now." Frypan exclaimed, looking out of the small window that was in the door.

"Frypan, move." Newt grabbed the nearest table, pushed it over, everything that was on it falling to the floor, and pushed it against the door.

Just as it was in place, someone pushed against the door. From the window and a little sliver of opening that was created by the person, I saw that it was a guard. And he was equipped with a big gun. "Thomas!" I looked back at him. He had grabbed a stool and hit it against the big window that separated this room from the one next to it.

It didn't break. "Newt, help me." Newt grabbed another stool and together they smashed the window into little pieces. Thomas pushed the rest that stayed on the sill off with the stool and threw it on the ground. "'Alright let's go." He helped Teresa over and then me, the rest of the boys following. "Everyone, just stay behind me."

He opened the door only to be surprised by a guard who seemed to have gotten to the door the same time that we had. Only he was unfortunate to be at the end of Thomas's stolen gun.

A whining sound filled the air when he pulled the trigger. Then a ball of blue lightning flashed out of the gun, arching, and landing right in the middle of the guard's chest. He was down in a second, the lightning tightened his limbs together and he was spasming, but was still able to get out, "Bitch." The will that must have taken.

We ran off, following Thomas down the halls. Ironically it felt like the Maze, when we were running down the corridors to get to the "griever hole", as Chuck had dubbed it.

Chuck...

I shook my head, throwing out any thought of the curly haired boy. Now isn't the time. It didn't stop the stinging in my eyes when I blinked the tears away.

We finally got to the last turn, seeing the door that Janson had led us through the first time. How long ago was that? Definitely more than two. How long was I out for? I guess I would have to ask later, when we're out of this mess.

Once we got to the door, I remembered that it was keycard activated. "Wait, how are we going to op-" Thomas pulls out a card. "Alright, that works too." He slid it through the card scanner. It beeped but flashed red.

"Damn it." He tried again, but had the same result.

"Thomas." Janson's voice reached us from the other end of the hall.
