I finally spotted Thomas. He stood next to more burning tents, running to one that was fully on fire. I stood up and ran to him, "Thomas!" He turned to me and his eyes widened. He pointed behind me, but it was too late. A white hot burning went down my back, I couldn't feel anything but that. I couldn't even feel the floor. I tried lifting my head, but it was hard. I was barely able to see Thomas running to me, but being pulled back by someone. Everything was blurry, random lights flashed in front of my eyes.

My scenery changed when the guard who shot me lifted me up and put me over his shoulder. I wanted to struggle, but the electricity that ran through my body numbed it, made all the recepting nerves stop working. I was only able to moan and grunt in pain.

"Is that her?" Was that Jansen?

"Yes sir."

"Put her down right here." Not so softly I was put down, laid on my side. I was starting to feel again and soon I was able to sit up on my knees. "Ah, Aesara, it's nice to see you up and well."

"Fuck off, Jansen." I glared up at him.

"Well that's not very nice. Is this what I get for saving your life?"

"Saved my life? You do nothing but make it worse."

He bent down, grabbed a fistful of hair and pulled it back. I screamed and held onto his wrist, hoping he would loosen his grip. Frypan, Minho, and Newt-who were lined right next to me-tried to get to Jansen, but a guard pulled them back. "If it wasn't for me, you'd be crank feed right now, laying amongst His chair of bones. Don't think you're special, got it? You're just another subject."

"Then why save my life if I was so useless?" I whined. He didn't get to answer because Thomas interrupted him.

"Let her go." Jansen smirked and let go of my hair.

"Looks like your little boyfriend saved you again." I watched as Thomas was pushed by a guard to stand in front of Jansen. "Thomas." He looked like he was going to hug Thomas, but only held him with one hand and punched him in the gut with the other. Thomas fell to his knee and I tried to reach towards him, but he was pulled away. He was put into line next to our friends. "Okay." Jansen walked away from me, giving me time to move closer to Newt who held me against him.

Jansen whispered something to a man in a thick jacket, then walked away.

"Why didn't you run?" Minho asked, angrily.

"I'm tired of running." Wasn't he the one who wanted to do nothing but run back at the Glade? But then I heard something else in his voice. There was fight. He had something under his sleeve. Leave it to Thomas.

There was a deep drumming sound that we heard before in the scorch. A light shined through the smoke and a huge aircraft broke through. Its four blades threw up sand and caused my hair to get in my eyes. It landed close, its back door opening immediately. Inside were four more soldiers and a lady in white. Everything about her was white. From her hair, to pale skin, to the warm clothes she wore. The only thing that stuck out was her red lipstick and green eyes. It took me a second to place who she was and why she needed a whole plain and four guards to herself. Then it hit me when she spoke. This is the Ava Paige.

"Is this all of them?" She asked Jansen.

"Most of them. It'll be enough."

Ava nodded. "Start loading them in."

"Yes ma'am." Jansen said it so quickly it was like he was waiting for the order. And perhaps he was. "Okay, you heard, let's go! Get them on!"

Guards started lifting people, dragging them to the plane that Ava just stepped off of.
