Chapter 28- Plan of Action

I blinked a few times, trying to make sense of what I was seeing as I lay still on the bed, looking up at the sand coloured ceiling.

This wasn’t where I was supposed to be.

I slowly sat up and saw Rain. He was standing by the window, an errant breeze wafting through his vibrant blonde hair. Only then did I actually hear what he was saying.

“…is it just me, or are you not enthusiastic about this?” he said.

Oh no. I could sense that I missed a whole lot of this conversation. How the heck did Kisame end up here all the way from the hidden library?!

“Yuri?” Rain persisted.

I shook my head, concentrating on the present. It was never a good thing to make him repeat himself.

“Sorry,” I answered quickly while trying to conjure up a vague response until I could figure out what was going on, “I’m just not feeling too well today.”

“It is true you didn’t seem like yourself today.”

“So, what are your plans exactly?” I asked, hoping he hadn’t just explained that already and that he would give me an insight into what the conversation had been about.

“If you are talking about the timing, I was hoping to announce our engagement just before the execution.”

“Eng-engagement…?” I repeated slowly, hoping it didn’t sound too much like a question. I was stunned. Had I really missed this much in just an hour?!

“No need to be so hasty,” I told him quickly, “Surely we have time for all of that.”

“That may be, but I want the following Coronation of my leadership as the new Hokage to be seen as solid. You are the perfect candidate for a partnership, and it is the perfect time. “

“I still think it’s a bit rushed,” I told him, trying desperately to convince him otherwise.

‘An engagement!!’ a voice in my head screamed at me fervently, ‘Since when were we engaged!?!?’

I SO needed to speak to Kisame to fill me in.

Still wrapped up in my thoughts, I blinked and suddenly Rain was above me, and I was pressed back onto the bed, his body flush against mine. His Akatsuki cloak was off and I got a glance of it flung to the side, drifting in the air still in mid-flight to the floor.

That was how fast he moved.

My breath caught in my throat at the suddenness. His gaze burned into mine and all I could see were his eyes. My pulse skyrocketed in surprise and I know that he felt it.

“Maybe I can convince you otherwise,” he whispered in a dazzlingly husky voice.

“Rain, hang on a minute,” I whispered back, his overbearing presence making my voice come out small and a little breathy. I wasn’t sure what he was going to do next.

He ignored me and lowered his head to my neck, pressing his lips to the curse seal.

At once every nerve ending in my body reacted, sending sweet shocks up and down my spine. It felt like he had activated the curse seal but it acted in a different way. It made my body ache to be closer to him, in an almost primal way that I had never felt before.

The aftershocks continued, and I could only writhe under him as this strange feeling took over.

A soft moan escaped my lips unchecked. A sound I would never have imagined me making around Rain. And he responded to it, locking his lips firmly with mine, making me melt at his touch.
