Chapter 18- Unexpected Training
He put me in a dungeon. A dungeon, can you believe it? I had no idea where I was.
I must’ve passed out soon after I went back to human form.
I could see light from a high window in my cell, but I couldn’t even get to it.
Rain’s curse seal really messed up my chakra control, so much so I couldn’t even use the chakra concentration techniques to go up the wall.
I hadn’t seen Itachi or Rain for days. It was Kisame that brought me food everyday.
He came again this morning, carrying a bowl of fruit and a glass of water.
“Breakfast time lil ninja,” he said, a half-hearted smile on his face.
It was still dark; dawn was just breaking.
I caught his arm as he put down the bowl through the bars, “Kisame, where is Itachi?”
“You know I can’t talk about it,” he whispered.
“Please. Kisame, I beg you, I’m going crazy in here.”
He sighed, “Rain sent him away on a mission.”
“Where?”
“I can’t say-“
“Kisame.”
“He’s gone with Kakuzu and Hidan to get the One tail; the Jinchuuriki, Gaara of the Sand.”
My eyes widened, “Do you know what Rain is planning?”
Kisame shook his head, “I wish I did. But don’t worry, you’ll be out of here in no time.”
I let him go, “What does Rain want with me?”
“I wish I knew that too. All I know is it’s something big. Listen I’ve got to go or he’ll get suspicious.”
I nodded, “Thank you, Kisame.”
His fish eyes gleamed in the little light that filtered in, and he flashed what look like a toothy smile and then left.
I sat back on the floor, my back to the wall. There was nothing in the cell except the four walls. The floor was dusty and uneven. There was no where to sleep, nothing to catch my interest.
I closed my eyes, bringing my knees up and rested my head on my folded arms.
And I waited. There was nothing else I could do.

The squeaking dungeon gate made me open my eyes. I stood up quickly, realizing it was Rain.
“Rain,” I whispered, my heart fluttering with fear.
He looked as calm and harmless as a peaceful lake. It was unnerving.
“Follow me Yuri-chan,” he said, smiling at me.
I glared back but stood up and followed him, “What are you going to do?”
“You will find out soon enough,” was his only response.
The truth was I was too scared to ask any more questions. His calmness seemed like a fragile façade. One slip up and that would be it. And ever since I glimpsed his chakra profile, I realized he was definitely not one to be taken lightly.
I followed him out of the dungeon. We went up some dusty stone steps, and back into the cave that we arrived in. Suddenly I realized where I was. It was the Akatsuki hideout.
