She was a regular here, she was sweet and incredibly nice. After awhile she started specifically requesting for me.
"Onika! My favorite waitress!" She grinned. I couldn't help but smile back, I didn't know much about her but I was very fond of her.
"Good afternoon Ms.Knowles." I spoke with my notepad in my hand. She shook her head and waved her hand making me laugh outloud.
"No baby, call me Ms.Tina my daughter is more of a "Ms.Knowles" type." She said rolling her eyes. Ms Tina was a kind woman, she came every Saturday for brunch with her daughter that I know is Solange.
"Solo went to bathroom, my other daughter is coming though!" She said with glee, I always liked Ms. Tina. She was my favorite customer, and not just because she tipped me well. She always asked me how my day was and seemed like she actually meant it.
"That's great! Oh-would you like me to come back when you're all here or would you like a drink now?" I asked and she tapped her chin a little before answering.
"I'll have orange juice, I'll order my usual when they get here." She winked at me and I grinned back.
"Alrighty Ms.Tina!" I said before walking away toward the kitchen. I shouted orange juice, and I smiled when one of the waitresses Lauren showed up at the window and handed it to me.
"Girl here, stop shouting." She rolled her eyes playfully and I smiled. I was a giddy person in general, even when things annoyed me or when times got hard.
"Thank you!" I sent her a air kiss and she waved me off. I made my way back to Ms.Tina's table and I saw she was talking to someone. It wasn't Soloange, I knew what she looked like. I fully reached the table and set down Ms.Tina's orange juice.
"Thank you Onika sweetie, I think we're ready now. I'll have my usual," Ms.Tina said I noted in my head her usual, she always ordered french toast.
"Solange, your usual as well?" I asked and she smiled before nodding, hers was always old fashioned pancakes.
"Alrighty..and.." I trailed off looking at the third guest.
"Belgian Waffle with the assorted fruits on the side please." She spoke up.
I dropped my pen.
I stared at her, I couldn't see her eyes. She had her sunglasses on but I could tell she was looking at me through them. I nodded before gulping and picking up my pen again with shaky hands.
"Onika sweetie, are you okay?" I heard the faint voice of Ms.Tina ask. No, I wasn't. I wanted to tell her but instead I suck it up and smiled.
"Of course Ms. Tina, I'll go put your orders in."I said briskly walking to the kitchen. I felt a hand stop me and pull me back. I stumbled a bit, I knew no one saw, even in the morning time our resturant was dimly lit.
"Girl, you okay?" I heard Lauren ask me. I looked down nodding. I took a deep breathe before looking up at her I could feel the familar feeling of burning in the back of my eyes, tears were threatening to fall. I saw her look of slight agitation turn into one of concern, and then even more agitation.
She looked at me and then looked towards the table and I took a glance as well. She had taken her sun glasses off was now smiling and chatting with her mother and sister.
"Bitch." She spoke.
I shook my head I knew she was going to question me later but I didn't need this.
"Do you need me to wait on them? I'll try my best not to curse the bitch out." She spoke and I shook my head. I knew she had a dislike for Beyoncé, I didn't blame her.
