Hermione laughed softly. She replied that anyway, the Burrow was a must-see destination during the holidays and that she was always happy to see his family there. And him, of course, she hastened to add in front of his almost disappointed look that he was not on the list of the visited.
She even proposed him to come to her house. What? She had proposed him that? She herself was surprised by what she had just said. To make up for it, she encouraged him to take Ginny with him and learn a few things about Muggle ways before he came because he might not like it. Besides, she knew that Mr. Weasley would be more than happy to fill them in. The discussion was now over, and they were heading back to the castle to prepare for the impending departure.
Draco was in his dormitory. His suitcase was packed; he was ready to go down to the Great Hall for the last banquet of the year. He was not unhappy to be leaving, but he knew that once he faced his father, he would not be able to back out. He had just received a letter from him. It announced that he would not be there when he arrived at the manor. He didn't care at all! It was good for him. He didn't want to see his hateful and arrogant expression at all, and he knew that after his stay in Azkaban, it would be tenfold. He would go home to his mother. At least she was sweet, though he couldn't talk to her openly.
His family problems soon disappeared, giving way to his emotional problems. Hermione again and again. He could not resign himself to the idea that she had forgotten what had happened. And unfortunately for him, the two months of vacations that were coming up were not going to be a pleasure. He would have no opportunity to see Hermione. Unless, of course, a Hogwarts student died and the whole school had to gather for his funeral! And then what! Where was he getting all these crazy ideas? That's a passionate, loving heart talking. If only he could meet her even by chance during the vacations! He was definitely losing his mind. The blond boy knew that he had to endure the absence of the one he loved. But it was necessary to benefit from the last moments. He would go down and find her; that reassured him.
In the Great Hall, the colors that dominated were those of Ravenclaws. It really took a lot of effort for the Gryffindors to get back to red and gold by the end of the year. For this one, it was still not won.
The students were turning the room into a marketplace. We had to shout to be heard. Dumbledore did just that, congratulating the year's winners and introducing their feast. When he appeared before the still stunned eyes of the students, who were still reacting as if they had never seen it before, they pounced on him as usual.
Instead of the Gryffindors, the Sixth-Year were discussing the year's break-ups. It was a very uncomfortable subject for them. But they were not intimidated; they were too busy making their vacation plans. They hoped that no evil forces would disturb them.
As for Draco, he was sitting in his usual place and staring at Hermione. The Gryffindor sensed that she was being watched; she turned around and found a dismayed Malfoy staring at her. She wasn't the only one who had seen him. It had to be said that since Ginny knew about him, she had been trying to follow Malfoy's movements whenever she could. At the moment, she didn't miss a beat of the way he was looking at her, a look that certainly made Hermione uncomfortable. The Slytherin didn't care that anyone could guess what he was doing, though, so he continued to stare at Hermione, as inexpressive as ever. She turned around to pretend she hadn't seen anything. She failed; Ginny was already winking at her. She had to come to her senses and start a topic that might interest her friends:
- Anyway, on the Vold..." she interrupted. I mean You-Know-Who front, we've been quiet this year.
They hurried to agree. Yet Harry seemed puzzled; he knew that something was going on behind it all and shared his thoughts with his friends. They had to be careful on this vacation, because danger could show up at any time and without warning. Fortunately, these negative vibes disappeared quickly. Hermione, on the other hand, always felt them staring at her and it gave her a confused look that only Ginny and Ron noticed.
