Sebastian was sat in his study, drinking rum from his flask. He placed the silver flask on the table, a file splayed open on his lap. He leaned his head on the headrest of the couch he was sat on. Squeezing his eyes shut and massaging his pounding forehead. He still couldn't get Bonnie's words out of his head. He wondered what the elder was speaking of.
Him and Augustus haven't spoken the whole afternoon, and now it was almost evening. It's like they were avoiding each other on purpose and none of them knew why. Bonnie was just rambling about different things that could mean anything really. But that was the problem...what did the woman mean?
The door slammed open and closed, as Augustus stomped in. Sebastian's gaze moved with his figure until the man sat beside him, grabbing the flask on the table and gulping a huge chuck of the burning liquid. He viciously wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, before throwing a glare towards the brunnet. Sebastian appeared rather amused, as he suppresses his nerves at the interrogation he knew was coming.
"Who is that..." he frowned, swallowing the almost insult he spewed. He was frustrated but the girl honestly didn't do anything to offend him. "That woman! You know...the one who was clutching a book," he quesioned.
"Magdeline," Sebastian responded with a duh tone.
Augustus glared even harder.
"You know what I mean Sebastian. Who is she to you?" he rephrased his question, feeling a bit irritated.
Sebastian sighed. Of course Augustus was too smart for his own good. He obviously put two and two together. The brunnet prince knew better than to try and dodge the question.
"She's my ex-girlfriend. We dated for over two years and then called it quit," he crosses his legs, shifting a little, his gaze dropping to the file on his lap, hoping the dark hair prince would now drop it.
But when has the prince of Neverland succumbed to his wishes.
"So...you still love her?" he questioned.
"She'll always mean a lot to me. I'll always have love and admiration for her, but we weren't so compatible in the royal world," he said.
"Why? Because she's not of royal blood?" the anger has subsided, and now he was more curious.
Sebastian gulped, shifting a bit. He was somewhat uncomfortable disclosing his past relationships, especially his and Magdeline's. It was a little of a heavy break-up for the both of them.
"She didn't have the right qualities to be queen. At the end of the day, that is what it came down to," he disclosed.
Augustus frowned.
"What does that suppose to mean?" he inqured.
Sebastian sighed once more, leaning on his balled fist, his elbow pinned on the couch's armrest. His gaze fixed on Augustus' face.
"She was too nice, Augustus. While that is a good quality to have as a queen, too much of it could be...very hideous to the throne. Magdeline has a soft spot for those who are less fortunate. Afterall, she is an opharn who grew up with less to own. People would exploit that. And besides...I can never say no to Magdeline. Which was a weakness of my own. How is that pair fulfilling to a kingdom," he shrugged.
"So...basically Magdeline is naive in your own opinion?" Augustus quirked a brow up.
"If you wish to use big words then...yes. I'd even go to an extent to call her gullible," he declared.
Augustus winced at the bitter truth.
"So what? Hazel is better fit to be queen?"
"I never said that. Hazel lacks empathy and charity," he deadpan plucking his index finger up.
Augustus chuckled bitterly.
"So...you'll refuse to marry her too?"
"I didn't say that neither, Augustus. At least with her I can always tell her no, if she makes ridiculous claims," when he saw the prince of Neverland trying to protest, he quickly added. "I'll obviously carry respect for your sister, Calabasas," he promised.
Augustus sighed, and nodded.
"Don't cheat on her with that Magdeline," he narrowed his eyes at the brunnet.
Sebastian shrugged nonchalant.
"What we had is over prince Augustus. I'd never do that to your sister, or let alone to Magdeline. She deserves to be freed," he muttered.
Augustus nodded, leaning back on the couch, closing his eyes. And then they snapped open again when he recalled something else.
"What did that woman mean when she addressed me as a king?" he questioned, for an unknown reason too scared to meet the chocolate orbs.
Sebastian shrugged, but Augustus didn't see the gesture as he wasn't looking at the other prince. When the silence stretched he spoke up again.
"You said she was a seer, right?" Sebastian hummed. "How good is she?" he inqured.
"From what I've heard, pretty good and always spot on," he responded.
Augustus bit his bottom lip, which Sebastian found himself drawn to that action. But he wasn't aware of his own oggling.
"You don't think my dad and older brother will pass on, do you?" he turned his head to look at the other prince. "That's the only way I'd become king," he said.
Sebastian's gut twisted at that fact, but seeing Augustus' flushed face, he felt the need to come up with a comforting reason.
"Or maybe you'll marry one of those princesses who live in a kingdom where queens rule. That way you'll be king," he suggested.
There were two kingdoms that had female leaders. They were known to be the modest kingdoms. Augustus' brain worked around this information. Deciding it made sense, and sat well with his soul he nodded.
"Hey...the princesses of Galanoi and Shilian Island are pretty fine," he grinned.
Sebastian chuckled, nodding his head. They were known to be very easy on the eye, and men found them as sinful temptations.
"I guess you'd be lucky then," the brunnet muttered, but he was still not convinced by his own reasoning, but still prayed he was right. His was better than the prince of Neverland losing a brother and a father.
Augustus hummed, before getting up.
"I'll leave you to....this," he said, pointing at the documents.
Sebastian's lips twitched into a faint smile, before the dark hair left. He was left to go back to his thoughts about Bonnie's outburst today. He sighed, deciding that work was the best distraction right now.
