Deputy P.O.V.
This night could not get any worse. First, the helicopter crashed down. Then we are chased by Peggies and shot from the plane. And, now where am I even? I remember being in a drowning car and someone on the lake's shore. I hear Father's voice. He talks about us.
My vision is blurred as I open my eyes. Move my head. I'm being tied to the bed frame. What the heck. I try to fee myself, but it is useless. Zip ties are really painful handcuffs.
"I am your father. You are my children. And together we will march to"
Man, that I think saved me turned off the radio. He slowly turned to me and started to get closer. and sit on the chair before me as he talks.
"You know what that shit means? It means the roads all been closed. It means the phone lines have been cut. It means there's no signals getting in or out of this valley. But mostly, it means we're all fucked. God damn "Collapse"... they all think the world's coming to an end, now. They've been waiting for it, for years. waiting for somebody to come along and fulfill their prophecy and kick off their goddamn Holly War. Well, you sure shit kicked..." He moves a bit closed to me and leans down. "The smartest thing for me to do would just be to hand you over. Fuck..."
He stands up, and I ready myself for the worst. My flee or fight instincts just click in, and I am ready to fight. Muscles tense I hold my breath. Just wait for his next move. The man kneels down and opens his pocket knife. In one swift move, my hands are free.
"Get out of that uniform---we need to burn it. There's some fresh clothes there. When you get changed you come and see me. Will see if we can un-fuck this situation."
Not even once had I thought that I will abandon my duty. I am in some old type bunker. In this room are only a few pieces of furniture. Bed, metal standing shelf, and closet. I move to it. There are various pieces of clothes in different sizes. I decided to get a black t-shirt, a red flannel shirt, and olive pants. I left my work shoes on. It felt weird to look at myself in the mirror. Now I am not a deputy on duty but a citizen. I fold my uniform and get it with me.
I made my way out of that room and searched for that man. Who is he? Older prepper maybe. Pretty soon I will know. It was not hard to find him. He was in the room with red light. On the walls are big corkboards. One has pictures of the Seeds. Red strong connecting them and other notes and documents. Other has a giant map of all of Hope Country. The man is bent over the desk with a CB radio. It looks like he tries to get some response. He moves from it and looks at me.
"Good you found something that fits. I didn't properly introduce myself back there. Most folks call me Dutch...I been trying to piece together what's happening up top...it ain't good. Little I can gather is that your partners are alive...for now. Seems they've been split up...each one handed off to a different member of Joseph's" family" ... You want 'em back I get it--I got friends that been taken, too. Problem is there ain't no help coming. Nobody knows what's going on here and they won't know until it's too late. There's gotta be people out there willing to fight back against this cult. We just...we need to show me how. We need to build some resistance. So the first thing we're gonna do is get control of this island. Once we get some breathing room we can figure out what's coming next." With it, he ordered to get a radio, map, and handgun. Dutch also gave me a warning that there is a lot of Peggies. I search the bunker for some ammo. I also found a metal pipe. You gotta use everything to protect yourself. With everything ready, I moved to go outside the place. Once outside Dutch gave me instructions on what I can do to build resistance. He also told me where to go first. It will be a long day.
Joseph P.O.V.
My Angel is sleeping in the guest room. I made John go now for her stuff from that bar. She will need them in the morning. Sleep came to me very fast and the night was short. I woke up like always. After my morning rout, I get out of the room. At the same time, my younger brother did too.
"Good morning John."
"Morning Joseph."
Our walk was short. I see the rest is already there. (Y/N) is there too. Helping to set the table. That blue dress looks good on her. Hugs in all the right places. And not show too much skin. She saw us walk in.
"Oh, good morning. I hope you slept well."
"Yea, and you (Y/N)?" John asked. Jacob was already sitting in his seat. Faith just took a seat too.
"Yes, I had a nice rest. Please sit, the breakfast is ready."
I came after him. My body was moving on its own. I took her right hand and placed a kiss on it. I could not stop myself for not look at her (e/c) eyes. She had to look up to me. I am a bit higher than her. And I saw little red on her cheeks. She is blushing because of me. It's a nice feeling. Still holding onto her hand I walk is to the table. Same seats as only a few hours ago.
"Let us pray." Jacob took her right hand. Along with Baptist and Siren, we made a circle. "God thank you for everything that we can eat. We want to thank you for sending us this Angel. Amen." At the last sentence, I hold her hand a little tighter.
"Amen." Was only response.
There were many dishes on the table. Eggs, bread, pancakes and salad. It was so nice of her to help. First, we ate in silence. My younger brothers was the one to speak.
"Wow Faith these pancakes are the best you have ever made."
"To be honest(Y/N) was the one who made them."
"How you made them so fluffy and light?" She looked at him.
"Well, I had years to practice. And you need to beat whites and add some baking powder and sparkling water. This is no secret."
We all looked at her. On that she become beautifully red and now her head down to hide it. I moved her hair from that pretty face. My hand also moved on her warm cheek.
"You are a true Angel, my dear. So pure and innocent. No need to hide from us."
Now she looked up at us. At me.
"I'm sorry. It's just that I'm not used to someone being like this to me. What I mean is for few years I live alone and only go to work. I don't party like people my age. My friends have their own lives and same my adoptive brother. So we don't spend as much time together as we used to. And I don't have a boyfriend or fiance. I may be a little shy for some time so, please be patient with me."
"You don't need to worry about anything. We are here for you." Faith's responded and both females smiled.
"Thank you. I somehow feel here like home. I didn't felt like this for a long time. For years."
After it, we ate in silence. Females cleaned the table and did the dishes. Coffee was left for us to drink. Along with pouring, I was glancing at Angels' way. She would be a perfect wife. They came back and she pour herself a cup of coffee with milk. With closed eyes took first sip.
"You seem to like it, Little Lamb." Jacob's voice made her open her eyes and look at him. I could see that she is somewhat scared of him. Maybe she should really stay here. Then Jon and gets baptized. Then with Faith and lastly with Jacob. Yes and then be back to stay with me but as my wife.
"Yes, I drink one cup every morning before I have to go to work."
"(Y/N) we talked yesterday and for now you will stay with me. Later on, you will visit my Heralds and help with our work. But for now, you can just accompany me."
