Apologies for the short chapter. My writing style has change a bit, hope you enjoy! The next few weeks pass with vigour, each one seemingly worse than the last.
October, season of the spooky and freakiness, seemed to be going well until the 31st. Of course on Halloween the world decided to chuck misfortune at fate's play toys; the play toys in question are Harry and Estelle.
The 31st was when Sirius Black, El's father, broke into Hogwarts.
The portrait of the fat lady was torn, some would argue, shredded. Many of those who had been close to the murdered canvas said that you could still hear the haunted cackles of the deranged Sirius Black. With the ripping of the Gryffindor guardian came suspicions, on how Sirius black could of entered Hogwarts. The students' answer was a quick one: Estelle Black had aided her father on his break-in.
Obviously that was a preposterous idea, but the brash brute headed Gryffindors didn't care about logic; they just wanted someone to blame.
After the unfortunate evening of all houses sleeping in the Great hall, lessons were a whole lot more chaotic.
First lesson: Defences against the dark arts.
The lesson had been greatly anticipated; curiosity had peaked, not for the subject but for the teacher.
"Bet he'll leave before the end of the month!" Seamus' food flung out of his mouth, unintentionally.
"I bet he'll die." A blond haired sixth year Ravenclaw played along with the Irish boy's tales.
"Oh do stop it!" The bushy haired girl snapped from behind her comically large book.
All crammed in a bare room, stood the Slytherins and Gryffindors.
Mr Lupin had finally managed to cease all noise apart from a few whispers that flew through the cold air."Can anyone tell me what a boggart is?" Remus shifted around before Estelle delicately rose her hand above her head. Following the perfect example of decorum came Hermione and her flailing hand.
"Ms Estelle would you mind explaining."
"Not at all Professor Lupin. A boggart is usually a household spirit or malevolent creature inhabiting fields, marches and caves. The boggart is seen, by the magical community, as a corporeal form of fear. Boggarts do not shy away from muggles, usually visiting them at night; the muggle have come to know the creature as a sleep paralysis demon."
Remus clapped his hands together in excitement, "Bravo Ms Black, you have a N.E.W.T level understanding!"
"Thank you, sir." Despite her head being bowed in modesty, Estelle felt the burning gaze of Hermione Granger.
The class continued on until the scarred man wheeled out an oak wood dresser.
