Demi:

She woke up when the bright light of a morning sun shone through the curtains and practiclly attacked her unconcious body. For a moment she couldn't remember where she was, and all she could think about was the throbbing of her head. Then she looked to her left.Oh shit, she thought. Lying there, with an angelic glow surrounding his bare body, was Joe. How drunk could she have been last night? How could she let this happen, right when she thought she had finally moved on? She got out of the bed swiftly, trying not to wake him, she seriously needed to get out of there. Joe suddenly turned over in his sleep, and as Demi looked back, his eyes began the flutter open. "Demi?" He called out, but it was too late. She was out the door now and practically sprinting to her car. Her whole drive home the words 'Never again' were all she could think about, and when Give Your Heart A Break came on the radio she wasn't even thrown into a fit of disbelief as usual. Safely back in her apartment, she sat down on her favorite couch, looked around at the spacious walls, and cried.

Joe:

Coffee, he thought,I need coffee. He got out of bed and began the seemingly impossible search for his shirt in the torn apart room. When he found his favorite t-shirt it had a rip right down the back of it. Demi grew out her nails again, he allowed himself this humorous thought and chuckled for a second before remembering the tremendous consequences last night would entail. It was a mistake, a huge mistake. Still, he could'nt help but remeber their activities fondly, even if he had just slept with his ex-girlfriend, his beautiful ex-girlfriend, his beautiful ex-girlfriend that was still so strongly in love with, though she didn't know that.

Demi:

A few days passed, and Demi still hadn't spoken to Joe. They were both busy it's true, preparing the releases of their new albums, but still, they had a LOT of unspoken words that needed to be expressed. She almost wished he regretted the night, wished that he would claim she seduced him, though it was really a mutual desire, and yell at her, so she coukd talk back and they could fight for nothing, like they used to... She hadn't told anyone about her night with Joe, even though she was in desperate need of some good advice. The fact was, it was ridiculously embarrassing knowing that she had let just a few beers get to her, and even more embarrassing that she knew deep in side it was the completely the alcohol that had made her want Joe again.

"Hey Nighthawk! What's up?"

Demi smiled into the phone, with just a few words Miley had already made her feel better. She was always such a good friend.  "Uhh, nothing really, but um... I have something to tell you..."

Miley waited in silence, and when Demi still hadn't said anything she coaxed her into talking, "I sort of... slept with Joe," Demi blurted out the words as fast as she could so she would'nt really have to admit it. There was another pause, and at first Demi feared that she was upset, and she was about to justify herself when Miley suddenly laughed aloud,

"Well it's about time!" Miley exclaimed. "Jesus, I was wondering when you would get back together, seriously, took you long enough." Demi was completely taken aback, what was Miley even saying right now? She was so shocked that her words got caught in her throat and she could'nt speak before Miley went on with her "congratulatory" speech. "So tell me everything! How was it? I remember when you guys first started doing... that... and you LOVED it. But it must be even better now I mean you've both had time to well... practice," Miley ended her sentence with a light chuckle, causing Demi's cheeks to burn and become a dark shade of pink. Still, the fact that Miley actually supported what she had done made Demi feel so much less stressed out, even if she didn't know the whole story.

"I mean... It was... Absolutely amazing, we've both matured a bit in, er, that area of work." That statement caused both of the girls to burst out in a chorus of laughter, it was like they were teenagers again, except at teenagers the topic might've been slightly different. The happiness was short-lived however because Demi knew the situation was a lot more serious than she made it out to be. "But Miles," she continued, "I was kind of tipsy, and it's not like me to do this, you know? And I was just starting to get over him, and now I've gone and fucked everything up!"

Miley quickly turned into serious mode, "Yeah I know, it was a little reckless for you, but babe, you've been dreaming of this for so long. Like you always used to say, 'If you love something, let it go, if it doesn't come back then it wasn't yours in the first place', Demi, maybe Joe is yours. Have you talked to him at all? I'm sure he's feeling a lot like you are right now."

"No I haven't, and I know I should, but I'm so afraid. What if we want different things?"

"Well, what's the worst thing that could happen? You decide to make that night water under the bridge and forget about it. People mess up sometimes, but it'll all be okay. I don't think a one night stand will have a very lasting impression. You did use protection right?" Demi was silent. "Right?" Miley repeated more strongly now.

"Well, no..." Demi replied. "But you're right, it won't have a lasting impression! I mean really, how much could come of just one night?"
