Joe:

His cell phone had now become the main focus of Joe's day. And as he sat staring at it now, the feeling that it would never ring was in his mind, but in his heart the hope of one call still remained. He knew he should really be the one to call first, but he couldn't. He was afraid of rejection. He knew that she was freaking about the night they had shared, because he knew that it had really messed with her head and he felt terrible for that. But it had been the best night of his life, he couldn't deny that any longer, and as he sat staring at that silent phone and dreamed of the day he wouldn't be waiting anymore, his love for Demi grew even stronger.

Suddenly a sharp ring broke through Joe's thoughts, and he almost had a heart attack right then and there. His hand shot out and grabbed his phone. Without even looking at who the call was from, he answered and practically screamed "Hello?" Okay, maybe he was a little eager, and a little nervous, or maybe so eager and nervous that he was shaking.

"Umm... Hi Joe..." But the voice wasn't Demi's, it was almost younger, but very familiar. But even as he looked at the name shining on his bright phone screen, he would never have guessed that she would call.

"Hi, Selena?" Joe was so completely confused, he didn't even mind that he was being rude.

Selena's voice awkwardly faltered as she tried to get her next words out. It was such a weird situation, Joe hadn't really talked to her in years, and he couldn't imagine why in the hell she would be calling now.

"Er, um, well, I was just wondering if I could have Demi's number? I deleted it a while ago and..." her words slowly drifted into an awkward silence in which Joe was stunned and Selena was completely embarrassed. "Are you, are you still there?"

"Oh yeah sorry!" Joe replied, he didn't want to make Selena feel bad, but he really didn't want to give her Demi's number. Drama between the two ex-best friends would not be good at a time like this. So instead of straight up telling her no, he lied. "Yeah, sorry, but I deleted it to. You could ask Nick but..."

"Thanks so much!" Selena cut him off, "it means a lot." And she hung up. What the hell is happening right now? Joe thought to himself. We might as well be going back to 2009 again.

Now a whole week had passed and there was still no call from Demi. Joe couldn't take this much longer, he had to talk to someone, had to figure out what to do. He knew Nick would blow up at him, Demi was as a good as a sister to him and he would kill Joe if he knew that she had gotten hurt. Kevin was busy with his wife, though that wasn't the only reason he couldn't go to him. Kevin had such strong morals, and Joe couldn't dissapoint him with his stupuid mistake. Maybe we'll just let it go, he thought to himself. He had a lot to deal with right now anyway. Maybe letting go was the best for her, he only wanted the best for her.

After all his contemplation, Joe really needed to relax. He decided to shower, and with the warm water falling over his body, he finally was at peace. I love rain, Joe thought. And it was no surprise to himself when he automatically began humming a familiar tune, the words ringing out in his mind, You're the harmony to every song I sing, and I wouldn't change a thing...

Demi:

"FUCK." Demi cursed at the top of her lungs. She got up and began pacing around her apartment, as though this could help her with anything. She was so screwed, how could this even happen? One night. One FUCKING night. She literally could not believe this was happening to her. She sat down on the floor and thought about the situation for a few minutes. She curled up into a small ball and cried for hours. As the sun set over the beautiful LA skyline, Demi realized what was going to come of her life. A mistake, a small mistake that should've been water under the bridge was now going to change her whole life. She knew she had to tell Joe. Hell, she had to tell her family! This wasn't exactly possible to keep under wraps. Demi curled up under her covers and cried herself to sleep, hoping that when she was to wake up it would have all been a dream, but knowing deep inside that this was real life. And in this life there would be no waking up to roses.
