Chapter Seventeen

I got my composure, and took a deep breath. "Not to mention cliché," I said, looking up to Loki. He was staring at me very confused. I stared at him with a straight face for a little while longer. And in another swift motion, I was once again in the middle of a kiss with the God of Mischief. And this time, I responded.

I'm not one for mushy romance stuff, not to mention we were in public. So long story short we both pulled away, and I looked up at him. I started laughing. "What?" Loki asked.

I attempted to stop laughing, "It's just– we just–"

He nodded urging me to go one.

"And after–" I gestured around us, "–all this–"

He nodded.

"I just wasn't expecting it," I looked back up at him, "at all."

Loki chuckled and nodded, "Yes, I suppose I didn't either."

"I'm so fired," I said with a giggle.

"You haven't even started yet," he said with a smirk.

"I know," I said with an eye roll.

I heard a cough from the other side of the room; I realized how quiet it was. I turned, and saw the Avengers staring at us with raised eyebrows. Or at least one of them. Tony was giving me a double thumbs up, like he knew it was coming or something. Steve was smiling at me, happy-like. Clint was smirking, and Natasha was the one with the actual raised eyebrow. I started blushing in embarrassment when I saw all their faces. Thank goodness Fury wasn't there, or any of the other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents. Apparently they had left.

"C'mon, love birds, time to get back to the S.H.I.E.L.D.," Clint teased.

I looked back at Loki, who looked at the Avengers than to me. "Loki's not going back to prison, right?" I asked.

Clint shrugged.

I glanced up at Loki, "You can go to my apartment, until I smooth things out with Fury. I don't mind."

Tony cleared his throat, "Actually, S.H.I.E.L.D. had your apartment moved."

"What? I liked that apartment!" I whined.

"... It's in Steve's building."

"Never mind, I hated that place." Loki nudged me; I put up my hands in surrender. "Where is it?"

"Washington D.C." Steve answered.

"Ah c'mon! I liked New York!"

"It's closer to S.H.I.E.L.D."

I shrugged, "Better travel time, I hated New York." I turned to Loki, "Whadda ya say?"

"Let's get going?" he said with a small smile.

It was a less than an hour later we arrived in D.C. I'd never been there, but I suppose I was living there, so I'd get used to it. We arrived at the Triskelion, or what I liked to call HQ, soon after. Apparently the director of the Triskelion, Alexander Pierce, was part of HYDRA, so it was being directed by Fury. So now he was director of the Helicarrier and the Triskelion.

Agent Victoria Hand, director of the Hub, was apparently murdered by Garrett, so Fury was director of that, too. So add the Hub on to the list of the things Director Fury runs.
