Chapter Fourteen
I woke up as soon as I felt the Quinjet stop. I opened only one of my eyes, so this what Fury deals with. Across from me was Steve, still decked in his star-spangled outfit. His gaze was in the direction of the cockpit, from the way he was staring, I'm guessing he was looking out the windshield. He turned his head, maybe looking around the jet. His gaze landed on me, and the second he did, I shut my eye. "Hi, Alex."
I opened each of my eyes one at a time, looking at Steve full on. "Hey..." I awkwardly replied, attempting to shake it off with a laugh- it came out as a nervous one, by the way.
Steve chuckled. And I couldn't help but smile. "Jet's landed," he said.
"I see that- feel that- I can tell-" I stopped myself, "You know what I mean."
Steve glanced at the door, which was wide open. Bruce and Thor were meeting up with Coulson on the landing strip, I noticed Coulson turning his head towards the jet (I'm guessing it was because Steve was still on board). "C'mon, Blondies, think it's about time you got off the jet!" Tony teased, dragging us both to our feet. I turned my head to Clint and Natasha sitting in the cockpit still. Now, I see why Tony dragged us off the Quinjet. Assassin-alone-time, I get it. Okay... so maybe not.
"Clint's blonde!" I teased, throwing a smirk at Clint.
He looked up, and noticed my smirk, he raised a brow in return, "I am not involved in this conversation!" He hollered.
Tony dragged us the rest of the way out, and half way across the landing strip. "They need to be alone."
"Since when did you know anything about love?"
"Love? Where is your mind, Alex? Clint and Nat are going to work on decrypting that file." Tony looked at me strangely; I held my hands up in defense. "Jesus, you're messed up."
"I'm sorry, I don't understand." Steve inquired. I couldn't help but give a small smile at his innocence.
"Alex here thought they were going to... What did you call it? Feng shui? Fondue- Fondue, that's it," Tony looked at me, "Alex here thought they were going to fondue on my jet."
"I will never look at fondue or feng shui the same ever again." I commented.
Steve looked at me with a disappointed look, which actually tugged some heartstrings; Captain America, the epitome of America, just looking at you with that face. "You are... messed up?" He said it more as a question, his features changing to a puzzled look. Looks like someone still isn't up to date on modern lingo. Or more modern lingo.
"I am twenty-four, thank you! I have the right to think about things!"
Tony looked at me, "Just maybe not those things."
I glared up at him. "You have no room to talk."
Tony put his hands up in defense. "On other- less disturbing- news," I glared at him, which made him chuckle, "When Clint and Natasha finish trying to decrypt that flashdrive, I'll be the first to know!" He pulled out his phone (which I was still very much jealous about).
"Are you really doing this again?" Steve asked, doing what again?
"No, I just want to know, I'm sure they'd tell us all, anyways. It's not like they can hide it from me forever." He looked at Steve for a split second before returning his gaze to his phone.
