What The Future Holds

Bonus Chapter

Despite everything that has happened over the years, there is still one person who remained angry at Paris's heroes, finding all of them completely useless to her. She wanted to see Ladybug suffer at her feet, to see her begging for mercy. Ladybug needed to suffer the same way she suffered. That's the only way she would be satisfied.

Lila's hatred over the heroes grew over the years as Ladybug's popularity grew worldwide. She hated knowing that Ladybug was loved by all for her "heroic duty", and it didn't bother her one bit that this rivalry had started over one boy. She was angry that Ladybug had cost her Adrien Agreste many years ago. That event opened his eyes to her tricks, making him immune to her lies. No matter what she tried to sell him, no matter how close she managed to get to him, Adrien had always kept her at arm's length. He never let her get closer to him, claiming to hate lying. 

Hawkmoth has tried many times over the years to try to get rid of Ladybug and Cat Noir, but nothing has truly worked. He's gotten close so many times but always manages to make the same mistake he always does. He continuously keeps underestimating Ladybug and Cat Noir. Even when news broke out that Ladybug was expecting, Lila already had plans in mind on how to use that child growing inside of her to her advantage. 

If Hawkmoth had only given up his morals and aimed for her stomach, Ladybug would have been forced to defend herself only. She wouldn't truly be able to fight him with her full power. Even with Cat Noir at her side, he would be too focused on protecting his little lovebug to do anything. No matter what she could try or friends she could call, if Hawkmoth had only increased his numbers during that time, he could have won. 

"Happy ever after? Huh! Never in my life had I heard of something so ridiculous." Lila couldn't help but roll her eyes as she crumpled up another article of Ladybug and Cat Noir's latest rescue. "If I were Hawkmoth, I would have already destroyed them. Actually, no. Even with just another akuma, I'm positive that I could beat them."

That's when an evil thought came to mind. The perfect plan. Hawkmoth had once tried to reakumatise everyone he had gotten from her class back when she was still in school, but everyone is adults now. Everyone was happily married and had their own children. It honestly upset her to know that everyone else had moved on with their lives as if nothing on earth was ever wrong with it while she was here, still stuck in her anger. She couldn't ignore the praise Team Ladybug continued to receive. She hated knowing that no matter what damage they did, Paris loved their heroes. It wasn't fair. It wasn't fair that she was labeled just another villain. 

"Hawkmoth failed all those years ago and now I have to live in this stupid ladybug age. Ugh! If only I had the power to take them down myself, Ladybug and Cat Noir would have been crushed a long time ago." The memory of Hawkmoth came back to her, each time he had granted her some ability to get close to them. However, he was always asking for their stupid miraculous back then. Lila didn't need that. She didn't care about that one bit. All she cared about was crushing Ladybug and Cat Noir with her own hands. No more rules. No more peace. All that mattered was chaos. "Why should she be praised for protecting the city? She destroys it most of the time and she's the one everyone is calling out for?"

Turning back to her wall, Lila threw a dart over at the picture of the hero on her wall, directly hitting the center of the photo. "Who needs Hawkmoth? I could have been much better."

Without noticing, a dark figure jumped in through her windowsill, surprising her.  As she turned around, Lila couldn't help but stare at the younger version of herself, standing there as Vulpina. Vulpina held out her hand to the girl, placing in it the miraculous of the butterfly. 

"What is this?" Lila asked as she took the item from her, the kwami immediately flying out of it. "What about Hawkmoth?"

Vulpina smirked at the girl in front of her before saying, "let's just say Hawkmoth felt it was time to pass on the torch. What better person to receive his power than the one girl who truly hated Ladybug and Cat Noir?" The amuk then bowed to her before saying, "as the new hawkmoth, you are now our leader. I am Mayura, and my ability belongs to you."

Without hesitation, Lila put the miraculous on before saying, "interesting. So we finally get to do things my way?" With a devilish grin, Lila couldn't help but laugh now. No rules. No mercy. This was her game now, and she wasn't going to settle with her precious little magical gems. "Ladybug and Cat Noir are going to lose everything they ever had. Friends, family, everything will be mine."

"What are your orders?" Vulpina asked, ready to follow through with whatever plan she could come up with. "The previous Hawkmoth was never able to successfully find Ladybug and Cat Noir in their civilian form."

"Let me worry about that," was all Lila said as she turned her back to the creature, walking back towards her living room. "After all, the last time we played his game, we were just children. We're not playing now. I don't intend to just hurt Ladybug and Cat Noir. I'm going to do what I want."

Her eyes landed on a pile of old newspapers she kept in the corner, a picture of Ladybug and Cat Noir right on the cover with her baby bump visibly showing. The interview was asking if Ladybug and Cat Noir planned to slow down on hero work for the sake of their family, but the heroes only looked over at each other and laughed. Both had claimed that they had no intention of slowing down one bit unless it becomes too unsafe for her. 

"That's it. Ladybug and Cat Noir have a family together." She picked up the newspaper carefully, looking at the couple's happy faces with disgust before turning back to the creature behind her. "track them down. Next time Ladybug and Cat Noir save the day, I want you to follow them as an everyday civilian. Find out who they are and where they live. The best bait to use against them would be their precious little kitten, especially a baby."

Vulpina nodded at the order she was given while Mayura was left unsure about this. Although Gabriel Agreste wasn't above using children either, he never truly put them into harm's way like this one was planning. However, she had an order and she was going to follow them. 

Ladybug and Cat Noir will be stopped. It's just a matter of time...
