Christmas was always a big favorite in the Dupien-Cheng household. Marinette always chose to help her parents in the bakery, but this time was different. Not only did they make special pastries for all her friends, but this was also the first year that Hugo and Emma were joining them as well. She had everything prepared for them, wanting to make this a truly special holiday for everyone. For Marinette, Christmas was a time of giving back to others and showing them just how special they are. She loved spending some quality time with her parents, but what she loved most was seeing everyone smile as she handed them their gifts.

However, as the Christmas cheer was spreading throughout Paris, there is one person who was having nothing of it. Adrien Agreste, the boy who was usually so full of cheer, tried his best to make the most out of his situation. It was his first Christmas without his mother by his side, and his father's refusal to even share the evening to hang up their Christmas tree was enough to make him feel more alone than ever. He knew the reason too. His father was always busy working on some sort of design that even on a day like this, it was difficult for him to leave his work. Nathalie tried her best to make him happy, helping him set up the tree as his bodyguard left to pick up Adrien's present and a box of sweets from the bakery, but even she knew that they could not be compared to the boy's father. All Adrien wanted was to spend the evening together with his father, the most important holiday of the year, but little did he know that Christmas without Emilee by his side was also difficult for Gabriel as well.

Adrien, after being told his father would join him when he can, couldn't help but leave to his room, disappointed at those words. He couldn't understand what was so important to his father that he couldn't spend some quality time with him on Christmas. It wasn't like he was asking for much from him, but for a man as big as Gabriel Agreste, maybe it was.

"He's still only thinking of himself! I just want this terrible day to be over and done with! I hate Christmas!" Adrien says angrily as he sits on his bed. Plagg floating near him, silently listening to the boy complain. That is until Adrien transformed into Cat Noir and jumped out the window to get away from home. He didn't want to spend another minute alone in that house. He couldn't do it. As Cat Noir, he couldn't help but notice that everywhere he went, families were getting together for the holidays, enjoying hot chocolate and eating dinner together.

From the rooftop, he couldn't help but notice just how happy everyone was together. Watching Marinette and her family, he couldn't help but feel a little jealous towards his friend. He enjoyed the fact that the Dupein-Chengs were close to each other. Each one of them from Marinette to her parents, you could see in their family how much they love each other.

Then he moved on to his childhood friend's home, knowing that Chloe might be in a similar situation as he was. Chloe's mother had taken off to New York but even when she's there, she's not close to either member of her family. Chloe's father would do anything for her, but her mother only focuses on the newest trends. However, his plan failed. Chloe was sitting happily with her parents, enjoying a lovely Christmas dinner that was prepared by her chefs.

Moving away from the view, Cat Noir decided to leave to another friend's home, hoping someone would ask him to stay, but as he was leaving, he couldn't help but spot the large Christmas tree downtown. In a blind rage, he couldn't help but call Cataclysm, running towards the tree with the intent of destroying it. "I'll take your symbol of joy and burn it to the ground. I'm the vengeful cat of the night!" However, just before he could touch the tree, his mother flashed in his mind. Christmas was always her favorite holiday and destroying this tree would be like disrespecting her memory.

"What am I doing? I can't do this," Cat Noir says to himself before spotting one of his father's advertisement boards. Still a bit angry at his father, he touched it, using cataclysm to destroy it completely. "I'm cold and alone, I don't want to be in pain. All that anger was all in vain. I just need to go back home to try and find a way. Tomorrow will be a brand new day." With a small sigh, he knew what he had to do. "Let's go home now. Plagg, claws out."
