A crown of flames

Chapter 10

After catching up with Jeremiah , i try to hold in my smile.

My plan depends on one thing and if Julia was being truthful , it should all go well .

The prince and his court need to be at the dining hall tonight.

That's what the queen meant when she'd said the prince is too busy to dine with them.

He dines with his friends.

I scoff , at least he's got some loyalty.

Jeremiah opens the double doors for me to enter and my eyes fall on the dining hall.

It was huge ,around half the size of a football pitch ,with three large wooden tables vertically placed from the end of the room to the entrance.

The walls were a brown stone as opposed to the regular white that made up the rest of the castles and the windows were huge and made up of colourful mosaic, reminding me of church windows.

Chatter and laughter filled up the room , and most seats were filled , people drinking from their silver goblets and digging into delicious looking meals ,servants were scattered around serving people.

Jeremiah leaves and i walk into the space between the first two tables,trying to find a space to dine in.

I get lots of glances and judging looks at my choice of clothing but i smile anyways , little do they know they're the ridiculous ones dressed two centuries too early.

I find a spot near the end of the table and sit down.

The girl next to me and the person she was speaking to across from her fell silent at my arrival.

God , i hope i haven't ran into any more Xenophobes.

I raise a brow at them and they quickly turn back to their food.

I think in the two days i have spent here , i have grown to be intimidating.

I smile and a servant comes to me with the promise of food being prepared in 5 minutes.

So i sit and wait.Not just for my food.

The girl next to me turns around again and this time gives me her hand.

I take in her face , she had smooth dark skin  long lashes and full lips, her hair was elegantly braided into a 100s of mini braids and she gave me a shy smile.

I hesitate remembering how Milo did the same thing earlier today. He gave me his hand to shake too , yet he was happy to watch me drown.

As if sensing my reluctance-

"I'm so sorry , i am Victoria" she says pulling her hand away " and this is my friend Luke" she said pointing to the guy in front of her .

He had hair the colour of hay,blue eyes and an extremely long neck.His face flushed when i turned to face him.

He gave me an awkward smile and said
"Um nice to meet your"

"It's nice meeting you guys too" I said "I'm Elide"  but before i could say anymore the whole room fell silent and i looked to the door.

My heart hurt at the sight and i tried to look away but failed after spotting prince Alex and his friends walk into the room.

Judith was missing however and Jadiel had a solemn expression on his face ,the guilt from Milo's face was now long gone and he was back to his careless state.

Lysander immediately meets my gaze , his face unreadable but his eyes relaxing after he searches my appearance.

Weird.
