A crown of flames

Chapter 30

I wake up to an empty bed.

Ben's gone too.

I look at my clock and see it's 12 pm.

I'm not a morning person.

I get up and consider having a late breakfast but then i remember last night's event and my appetite subsides.

Being with Ben and Alex last night slowed down my processing of what happened.

I feel my stomach turn and i run to my sink to throw up.

I stand over and it gagging and coughing but nothing comes out.

I sigh and have a bath , washing my self with the peach soap i'd frown to love and wishing i could wash away last night with it.

I was terrified.

Knowing what this cult could do so easily has my nerves in a state of panic.

I'm leaving tomorrow.

I remind myself.

I get changed into some trousers and a top , unfortunately they're basically
medieval style and looking more like a combat outfit and i put on my black boots.

I'd agreed to meet Victoria this afternoon so we can go to Dolnis markets together to shop for a costume.

It was going to be sad saying goodbye to such a loyal friend.

I was going to tell her everything , so she could stay safe.

I hear a knock at my door , i open it to find Jeremiah.

"Hey"I say "just who i was looking for"

"Good morning Miss Melian"He says with raised brows.

"Come in Jeremiah"I say closing the door behind him.

He stands by the clock.

"I am going to need you to inform the Uh princess or whoever it is you need to tell that i am leaving tomorrow"

"You are?"

"Yes so if you'll please arrange my flight" I say with a small smile.

"May i know why you're leaving?"

"My stay here hasn't been as pleasant as i'd hoped it would be"I say simply.

He blinks "Of course , i'll inform her majesty momentarily , is there anything else you'd like me to do"

"Yes"I say "Please arrange transportation for me and a friend to Dolnis markets"

He nods and leaves.

I put on some vaseline and braid my hair into a fishtail plait and make my way to Victoria's room.

I knock on the door and she opens it with a smile.

"Hey gorgeous"

"Hey"I grin and pull her into a hug.

We go into her room and i take a deep breath.

"Victoria"I say "a lot happened last night"

She turns to me "What now?" she said worriedly.

I explain everything to her in detail , leaving nothing out.

"Are you ok?"She says sympathetically "You've gone through more in two weeks than most people have in their whole lives , i really don't know what to say"She pulls me into a hug.

"I'm not okay , but i can't afford to wallow right now , i have to make it through tonight before i let my self take in all that's happened , i have to go home" i tell her.
