Once, a little girl was walking at the heart of the desert. She's got nothing else but herself, her clothes, and her determination to cross the dry land.

One step at a time, and I'll get there. She said to herself licking her lips to form saliva. She needs water, but she knows that it cannot be found where she is. So she focused on her traversing. Walk and walk she did.

By the time she was about to lose consciousness, she rested. Controlling her breath and saying the magic words. One step at a time. Rest when it's needed. Never give up. When she has the energy again, she stand up and continued her walking.

Flapping its wings, a certain kind of bird has been watching the little girl the whole time. She can't make it. The bird says. But the bird was amazed by her hope and faith to get across the seemingly hopeless land. So the bird flies near the little girl.

"Where are you going, little girl?" The bird asked the girl. The girl lifted her gaze upon the bird.

"Across the land." The girl answered.

"Why?" The bird asked once again.

"Because it's my dream to get there." The bird laughed at her answer.

"I've seen it, little girl. There's nothing in there but another land of hopelessness." The bird remarked.

"I have to cross that land then." The girl answered. The bird said nothing in reply, but once again, amazed by her hope, faith, and determination.

My eyes can't see it, but my heart can. It's a dreamland. The girl said to herself as she walk and walk.

By the time it's almost night, she saw a man, unconscious. She immediately checked his heart and found him alive. His lips are as dry as the land. She wanted to help, but she has nothing with her but herself, her clothes, and a positive attitude. So she stayed by his side even until the man woke up.

"Sir! Thank goodness you're awake! I'm sorry I can't give you any water or food." The little girl said.

The man smiled. "You don't have to say sorry, missy. I've been in this desert for how many years now and that didn't do me any good. I am dying."

"Oh no, sir. Perhaps, I can help you cross the land if you let me." The little girl offered. The man accepted his offer and they started walking across the desert. Walk and walk they did.

The little girl taught the man the things she knows. Such as constantly having positive thoughts. But the man is curious about something, so she asked the little girl.

"Why do you have such attitude?" Asked the man.

"Because I have a dream and I have a vision. My eyes can't see what's in there, but my heart can." The man was speechless, it's the most beautiful thing he has heard. "What about you? What's your dream?" This time, the little girl asked.

The man went silent for how many minutes. "I-I don't know. I didn't think of that before" He answered.

"It's easy. Just think of what you've been wanting to do in life and you'll know it." The man went silent. "What would rather do than live in this land?" The girl innocently asked.

"I'd fly?" The man replied.

"That's what you want to do?" The girl asked.

"Why? Is it impossible?"

"No sir, I found it rather exciting!" Gleefully, the girl exclaimed.

The man is also exhilarated with the thought. In fact, he felt energized. It seemed that he has all the energy to cross the land even though his mouth requires gallons of water. Nothing is impossible. He said to himself.

"But yeah, we still need to cross the land, and the land after it, and the land after it." The little girl said. "Because even though life seems to have a destination, it is designed to be a process. A long process."

By the time they reached the borders between the dry land and the wetland, the girl looked at the man.

"Purpose is not a destination, sir. It's a walk. That's what I want to do too! I want to walk and see lives change. Is yours ready?" The little girl asked. The man smiled at the little girl, a goodbye language.

"I'm ready."
