The wind blew through Rieka's hair as she stood on the cliffs overlooking the sea. The air around her was thick with salt as she took a deep breath in. Letting the sounds of the waves against the rocks calm her.

She reached out and pat Balor's head as he sat patiently beside her. "Things aren't always as they seem," she whispered to the wolf beside her. He had been a gift to her from her aunt when she was a child and they had grown together over the years. He was her closest friend.

He turned his silver eyes to her before a noise behind them caught his attention. She glanced down at Balor as he cocked his head to the side before rising to his feet. Turning around Rieka saw Loki walking towards the pair.

"Go, run wild," Rieka whispered to her wolf. With a bow of his head Balor ran towards the woods leaving her alone with Loki.

As the God of Mischief reached her, Rieka turned her head to look up at the tall god. He towered over the small woman by a foot or more with the top of her head barely reaching the gods sternum. She was small compared to him, she was small compared to most beings, but the Gods definitely made her look even smaller than she was.

"Are you alright," his velvety voice asked her softly over the sounds of the waves.

Loki couldn't help but feel empathy for the small woman beside him. If his own upbringing was anything of terrible parenting by a Norse god, then the Olympians could be labeled as the worst parents and family. It was something that had been rumored about for centuries but now he had seen it for himself. It made Odin seem a little less of a horrid parent to him.

He worried about her after everything that had happened the last month. He didn't want to admit it out loud but he cared for the small woman. She had grown on him since he arrived and ultimately ended up living there with Thor. He kept his distance but admired the wild and untamed beauty the Rieka was.

Rieka glanced at Loki taking a deep breath. "I'm fine," she whispered as a tear rolled down her cheek.

Watching the waves, Rieka allowed the tears to silently roll down her cheeks. As she stood there in silence with Loki she felt his cool hand gently grab her chin. He turned her face to look at him while he used his other hand to wipe the tears from her face.

Looking at Loki made Rieka's resolve crumble as new tears replaced the ones that had been wiped away. Her knees buckled beneath her, but before she could collapse on the ground she felt Loki gather her in his arms. She gripped onto Loki as if he was the only thing holding her in reality.

There on the cliffs Loki held onto Rieka as she cried into his chest. Her mother was gone, her father bound to Olympus, and she was left on Earth alone. Her only source of comfort came from the god who held her without question. Only holding her in his arms as he softly stroked her hair, letting her release her pent up anguish.

He didn't say a word to her as she cried. After all he had been through in his lifetime he wanted to offer her the one thing he didn't have or allow himself, someone to comfort him. He thought things may have turned out a bit different if he had. If he had seen the fact that Thor loved him as a brother, even after finding out he was a frost giant. It took him too long to see it, though now that he had the two were growing close. Loki didn't want to see this destroy Rieka, she was far too strong and beautiful for that to happen.

When she finally had no more tears to cry Rieka looked up at Loki with red, swollen eyes. "Why are you here," she whispered to him knowing he wasn't one who dealt with emotions well. Still she clung to him for dear life.

Carefully brushing the hair from her eyes Loki looked at her tear streaked face. "Thor and I went to fetch you, but we couldn't find you. I had a feeling I'd find you out here," he murmured as he tightened his arms around her.
