"I'm going to need chicken blood, salt, five candles, and a bottle of whiskey," you hurriedly listed off as you moved around the room.

Loki watched you with a raised brow in confusion. Your magic was much different than his and it not only confused but fascinated him. "Whiskey? For the spell," he questioned in an amused tone approaching your frantic form.

"No, that's just to make me feel better about ripping a hole in the universe," you shot back while rolling your eyes at the tall God.

You kept moving about the room frantically and was oblivious to Loki's approach. He chuckled as he shot an arm out and hooked it around your waist to pull you to him. He wrapped his other arm around your petite form and firmly held you in place as he gazed down at you.

"Darling, relax," he gently spoke into your ear as he bent down to press a soft kiss to your temple. "It's going to be alright," he soothed, lifting a hand to caress your cheek.

The sight now was vastly different than how the two of you were around each other a year ago. You had been recruited by the Avengers when your existence became known to them. To be more exact the universe thought your life was a joke and dropped you literally into their compound when you cast a spell to teleport to somewhere safe.

It took a lot of talking and convincing that you weren't an enemy when you first dropped in. Though when another magic user showed up to question you, he cleared your name of any evil intentions. That moment led to you joining the family of misfits that you came to love.

In the beginning though you and Loki both loathed each other. You knew of his reputation, and he initially saw you as inferior. Though he saw most others inferior to him, it really got under your skin. It took a near death encounter to change the way you two saw each other. The one you had been running from the day you dropped into the Avengers compound the first time had found you.

You had been out looking for ingredients and Loki had been begrudgingly tasked at going with you. Although Loki had wandered off at some point trying to entertain himself. It was when you were alone that you were attacked. The witch hunter came through the woods and had you pinned on the ground as a scream ripped from your mouth.

He tried his best to muffle you and secure you so he could take you back to his people. He had gotten a few blows to your face and body in an attempt to subdue you. Though before he could you felt his weight being thrown off of you. Your scream had alerted Loki and he had come back. Before you were able to lift yourself from the ground you heard a painful cry and thud of a body dropping to the ground.

The next thing you knew you had Loki's concerned face hovering over you. "Is he..." you croaked out not wanting to finish the sentence.

Loki gathered you into his arms and picked you up off the ground. He teleported you back to the compound before he gave you an answer. "He won't hurt you again," he whispered to you before you lost consciousness in his arms.

That had been six months ago and now here you were in your work room with Loki. The two of you had been spending a lot of time together recently. The attack had changed something between the two of you though you never asked him what. In the moment though you did want to know. Especially after how sweet he had been to you recently.

"What changed that day Loki," you asked softly as you tilted your head up to look at him.

The expression on his face softened and you saw a small smile play on his lips. He knew exactly what you meant although he was sure you weren't prepared for his answer.

"By that time, you had shown what a talented and powerful witch you were. I just didn't realize how much you had grown on me until I heard you scream. I didn't know how much you had come to really mean to me until then," Loki explained as he dipped his head to press a kiss to your forehead.
