Imagine returning to Hogwarts for a repeat year after the war and getting to know Harry Potter.

. .

. .

When the whisperings of Voldemort being back reached the ears of your family, they became quite nervous and started making plans to leave in case a war broke out. You didn't think it would come to that, after all Dumbledore was basically the greatest wizard alive and stationed at Hogwarts, so they promised to stay for as long as it was safe.

Fifth year proved to be quite troublesome with Umbridge being assigned there, especially since it was proven Voldemort was back by the end of the year, but still you pleaded with your parents to stay and let you continue at Hogwarts.

However, truly worrisome events happened at the end of your Sixth year when deatheaters stormed Hogwarts and Headmaster Dumbledore was killed at the hands of Professor Snape. That was the final straw for your parents, but before you could escape the country Voldemort had control over the Ministry. No one was allowed to leave and if someone did somehow manage to escape the country, they were hunted down by Voldemort's deatheaters.

You went to school for your Seventh year, as every magical child was mandated to go, and it was the worst year by far. Muggleborns had their wands broken, names registered, and were sent home since they were considered lesser beings, and some of the braver ones didn't even bother to show up to school. With Dumbledore gone and deatheaters parading around as teachers, Hogwarts was the most depressing place to be. And it was only made worse when Professors Carrow (both Amycus and Alecto) took detentions to a whole 'nother level. The punishments ranged from being put under the Cruciatus curse to being bound with chains and even beaten. You were just lucky that Neville Longbottom kept Dumbledore's Army going and formed a resistance against the Carrows.

And if school wasn't stressful enough, you very nearly had a breakdown when Professor McGonagall and Professor Sprout pulled you out of class to tell you the terrible news about your parents. The dark mark had been found over your home, both your parents dead inside, and the only reason they could come up with for their death was that they refused to show allegiance to Voldemort.

From then on out, you did everything to really push back against Snape and the Carrows, and the students of Hogwarts got to see firsthand that not all Hufflepuffs were as laid back as they once thought. Then when the war was brought to Hogwarts, you did your best to evacuate the younger students through secret tunnels before rejoining the fight to avenge your parents.

Curses and hexes of various colors flew left and right, but you couldn't afford to take a breath. You didn't show an ounce of mercy as the deatheaters and werewolves took delight in killing or seriously injuring the children, and it was only after Voldemort called a temporary ceasefire did you realize how much blood and death surrounded you. Stunned at the sight of all the destruction surrounding you, you had stumbled into a wall and slid down it in shock.

That was how the Weasley twins found you, one twin supporting the other who was obviously injured. They had mentioned blood on your shirt and that you needed to get to the Great Hall to be checked out, but the retort of the blood not being yours was already on the tip of your tongue as you shakily stood up. Only when you were standing tall once more did you realize the blood was yours and you had a set of some gnarly claw marks across your abdomen. The twins had hissed when they saw it and only then did you remember your brief run in with one of Greyback's lackey's before he had been blasted away from you.

Professors McGonagall and Sprout had taken you under their wing after the death of your parents, so they quickly doted on you after the Weasley twins deposited you before them and made sure you were steady on your feet before moving on to someone else. Then Voldemort came back to gloat about Potter's death and everyone was to pledge their allegiance to him, but Potter wasn't quite as dead as they all thought and the war was back on.
