Imagine being the secret daughter of Tony Stark and being brought to live at the Tower with a bunch of superheroes (Part 1 of 2).
. .
. .
After having a long conversation with both Pepper and his lawyers, Tony realized it was time to have a conversation with the team. He'd recently learned of some surprising, yet heartbreaking, news and made some life changing decisions that would now include everyone staying in the tower. So after making sure this was what he truly wanted to do, Pepper supported him one hundred percent and was the one who suggested talking to the team about this new development.
Stepping off onto the communal floor, Tony isn't surprised to find Steve, Sam, and the Maximoff twins already waiting. Since Clint was on a leave of absence tending to his own family for the time being, the twins had clung to Steve since he was the first one to come around when the twins had switched sides during the fight against Ultron. So really it's not surprising to see that they're sitting as close to Steve as they can without making their proximity to him weird.
"Hey Stark," Sam greets him with a nod, "what's with the team meeting?"
He drops into the nearest armchair, sighing. "Not until the whole class is here, Wilson."
"Is it something we need to suit up for?" Steve wonders.
"No, but it does involve the whole team. Just- just wait. The others should be here soon." And not even ten seconds later, the others arrive. Bruce follows Natasha off the elevator and Bucky exits right after them. Everyone takes a seat, quietly talking among one another, before Tony clears his throat. "Well now that the entire peanut gallery is here, I have some news."
"If this is you breaking to us that you're dying, I'd like to request that beach house of yours in the will," Natasha says. Steve and Bucky snort, and Tony rolls his eyes.
"Very funny, Romanoff." He inhales and exhales rather loudly, rubbing a hand down his face. "I'm not dying. Not yet at least. But around last month I got a phone call from a one night stand I had seventeen years ago. It seems I have a daughter." The room seems to perk up, interest piqued. "JARVIS, please put up a photo of YN from when she was five years old." A picture pops up on the flat screen that's mounted on the wall and everyone's eyebrows raise in surprise. "Everyone, meet YN YLN."
"She looks nothing like you here," Bruce says. "Are you sure-"
"I'm sure. When her mother called, it was for exactly what you're all thinking. Money. I flew out with a team of lawyers and we took a DNA test. It was a match."
"If this one night stand happened seventeen years ago, then why are we looking at a picture from when the girl was five?" Steve asks.
Tony shifts uncomfortably in his seat. "JARVIS, please pull up the most recent picture of YN."
On the TV, a picture of the girl has everyone gasping and/or wincing. She has the beginnings of a black eye, a busted lip, a small cut over her right eyebrow, and more telltale signs of bruising around her neck.
"Someone found out who she was?" Bucky asks, expression steely.
"No." Everyone looks at Tony now, frowns on their faces. "Mother dearest requested seventeen years of back pay in child support for her silence. After talking to a judge, I agreed." Sam whistles, shaking his head. "But the mother was only given a certain amount and the rest was put into a trust fund for YN that only she could touch. So when YN was told to get the rest of the money out by her mother and boyfriend, she refused. She refused and that," he points to the picture of the abused girl, "is the handiwork of her mother's boyfriend."
