Imagine being told of your brother's death. Though you had completely different views of how to handle things in the new world, Paul (or Jesus, as he liked to be called) was the only family you had left. Now.. now he's gone and you want retribution.
. .
. .
After having a short memorial service for Jesus, some of the more prominent members of the community linger around Jesus' coffin- Tara, Aaron, Enid, Alden, Earl, Tammy Rose, and Daryl. Everyone's lost in their own thoughts as they stare at anything other than the coffin holding their dear friend.
"Well I hate to make a shitty situation worse," Tammy Rose pipes up, "but who's gonna be the lucky fella to inform Jesus' sister of his passing?"
Daryl glances over to the woman in a pink head scarf. "Sister? I didn't know Jesus had a sister."
"They didn't see eye to eye on how to survive," Aaron says, hugging himself as if it were the only way to keep himself together. "Jesus was all about peace and doing things without harming or killing. Y/N, on the other hand-"
"She was a sweet girl in the beginning," Tammy Rose says, cutting off Aaron with a glare. Then looking at Daryl and Tara and the others who seem eager to know more, she explains, "But Y/N had to grow up so she grew up to become the strongest of the strong, the strangest of the strange, the wildest of the wild. She's a wolf leading wolves."
"If she's such a badass, then why haven't we heard of her?" Tara asks. "Better yet, where was she when we had major trouble with Negan?"
"That girl might be a badass, but she was still Jesus' little sister," Tammy Rose says. "He wanted to keep her out of it and far from Negan's clutches."
"I'll do it," Daryl volunteers. Everyone looks at him, surprised, but he only shrugs their scrutiny off. "I'll be headin' back to Alexandria for a bit. All of you gotta worry about transferring leadership here. It only makes sense for me to go."
Aaron nods. "Okay then." Walking off to the side, he picks up his bag and digs out a worn map. Opening it, he gestures for Daryl to follow him to a nearby bench. Then laying it out for all to see, some are confused by the highlighted parts and intrigued by the one route marked in red. Off in the margins, there's a note that mentions to never take that route or to take extreme caution if there's no other way around it. "Jesus always warned us off this route, but if you want to meet Y/N then you'll need to take it."
"Why? Is the walker activity bad there?" Enid asks, worried for the hunter and the impossible situation he can possibly find himself in.
Aaron huffs. "No. Elysium is possibly the safest place to be if you're part of or allies with the Elites. A person wouldn't know they were in Elysium until it was too late and they were surrounded. Y/N's people.. they're good. Scary good," he tells them. "There are stations miles out from their home base and you won't see them unless they want to be seen."
"So how do I keep 'em from thinkin' I'm the enemy?"
"With this." Tammy Rose steps forward, a small cup in hand. Then stepping up close to Daryl, she sweeps aside his hair over his forehead and then dips her finger in the cup. Her finger comes out black and she paints a line from the middle of his forehead to the point where his nose starts, and then blots two dots on either side at the top of the line. "These markings will let the Elites know you come in peace. The second you spot one of them, flick your hair out of the way so they can see."
"They're not too fond of noise, so they'll likely stop you immediately. When they do, cut the bike's engine and show them the mark. Afterwards, they'll take care of your bike while they take you further into their community by quieter means. And then when your meeting is done and over with, they'll return your bike so you can be on your way."
