"BECAUSE YOUR FIRST MEAL IN HOGWARTS IS ONLY DINNER, I'll PUT IT IN TOMORROW'S REPORT". Alecto informed Megaera, who only nodded at her sister's words.
It was the welcoming feast, chatter and laughs filled the hall. Even though the Slytherin table is the quiet one out of the four houses, it was still filled with talking and murmurs. It was in no way as loud as the Gryffindor table though, and for that Megaera was grateful.
She was in no mood to talk, much less socialize. She felt trapped and overwhelmed in the large room filled with noise, all she wanted was to be under the esmerald blanket in her dorm room.
She was sat next to her sister and Mulciber and the rest of Slytherins imbeciles. Mulciber had given up to chattering her ear off long ago and her sister had never really bother to converse with her.
Not in school and not at the manor. The Carrow siblings are not really and never had been close anyway.
After finishing her assigned dinner, a thin slice of bread, she rested her head on the table. Taking deep breaths trying to ease up her mind.
Her sister harshly pinched her side, making her flinch and sit properly.
"Quit acting juvenile, Megaera. It's embarrassing, really." Alecto said with a fake smile gracing her face, looking around the room to make sure no one saw her little sister's antics. Satisfied with the fact that no teachers specifically were looking at them, she returned to her meal.
Little did the sisters know, there were more than a pair of eyes watching the interaction.
"Honestly Moony, I think you're overthinking this whole situation. When haven't I pinched Peter or Sirius? It's totally normal" James said between mouthfuls of steak, all the way at the Gryffindor table.
It all started when Sirius catched Remus staring at Megaera, which made James, who had a conversation with Sirius to look over what was all the fuss about. Then Peter after being met with silence looked up from his dinner to find his friends looking in the direction of the Slytherin table. After shrugging to himself, he continued to stuff his face with a turkey leg, occasionally also looking at the Slytherin table to keep up with the conversation.
Which bring us to the moment at hand.
"Prongs, I really think there's more to it".
James was about to argue with Remus yet again when Sirius interviended, "No James, I think Remus is right".
An eerily silence fell within the group, all of them lost in their own thoughts.
Peter spoke up suddenly, "Either way, Moony. Why do you care? I thought you hated her".
"Hate is a strong word", Sirius said.
"No, but like Wormy's right. So what if she looks tired? She probably is, but it doesn't mean she's dying. Maybe she's just going through a rough patch". James said.
"I don't hate her, I just don't particularly like her".
"Well then, are you so determined on figuring out what's wrong with her?"
Remus honestly didn't know. He said it himself, he doesn't particularly like her. He has spent most of his school years cursing her for getting better grades than him or for having to share some academic privilege with her.
So why did he care for her well-being now?
He blamed it on the fact that he thought that just because Sirius had a rough time at his old home, every pure blood child was going through the same. Even though he wasn't far from the truth, he just thought that maybe he has been somewhat paranoid about pure blood households and families, what lies beneath the mask of the so called Carrow family.
