I didn't plan on writing this chapter initially, but my English homework was to write a story which starts with "when they opened the door, they knew something was wrong" and I got this idea. I hope it's an ok one shot, I tried.
As they opened the door, they knew something was wrong. In the middle of the living room there were Jake and Eunchan struggling to move a cake that was on fire. When they realize that they're being watched, they both turn their heads at the same time to face their friends, who look confused and worried.
— Happy birthday! yell the two boys while smiling.
Jake's smile is fake. Its purpose is to hide his worry. He doesn't want to show it, but he's terrified of the dessert he's holding. What if it burns his hair? Or even worse, what if it burns his face?
Eunchan's smile on the other hand is genuine. The guy is clearly oblivious to the fact that he's in great danger. He's just happy for his friend, not realizing that there are more chances of him getting burnt than Jake, since he's wearing a long silver earring.
— I'd appreciate if you start to blow your candles now, says Jake while still maintaining the fake smile, trying to fool his friend and make him believe that the cake's supposed to be on fire.
— But we didn't buy candles, whispers Eunchan not that quietly.
— Funny one, Eunchan. I don't know what he's talking about, we clearly bought candles, they're just invisible, Jake lies terribly.
— Oh, you bought those? I saw the ad for them too, yells the blonde boy who holds the cake while smiling innocently.
— Do you think I'll buy your lies? says Dean, angry.
— Yeah...? I usually lie really well, I don't know what's happening to me.
Dean sighs before running upstairs as fast as he can. He trips on one of the stairs, but manages to get back up fast and zoom in his sister's room to get the fire extinguisher.
Timothy, Jake and Eunchan just look at each other in confusion until their friend comes back as quick as he can and stops the fire.
— Explain yourselves, morons! yells Dean angry.
— Well, we love you, so we wanted to make something special for your birthday. Since Tim can't cook and you seem to like him the most, Jake and I decided that he should be the one to waste your time while we prepare the party... starts Eunchan, but he's interrupted.
— So you didn't want to date me? asks the black haired boy while looking at Timothy, who was still sitting in front of the entrance.
— I'm sorry, I don't love you in that way, explains him.
— I do, yells Jake enthusiastic.
This thing made all his friends look at him. One in confusion, one in disgust and one being really enthusiastic and happy. All those stares made Jake feel like he needs to explain himself:
— What? He's good-looking.
— Does that mean I'm gonna have a second dad? asks Eunchan while smiling brighter than he did before.
— I mean, if Dean wants so marry... the orange haired boy starts, but he's interrupted.
— Fuck off, says the taller one with a really serious expression on his face.
After this, the room was full with an unbearable silence. No one really felt comfortable so Eunchan, because he wanted to stop this, continued to explain what happened:
