Anilena-Ray

It was the day of the meeting with the kings. I had been dreading it since Eren told me three weeks ago. Presently, my new servant was combing through my hair as Eren played with Aiden on the bed. I winced as the woman yanked hard on my hair. I could see her smirk in the mirror and lifted my hand stopping her. She looked up at me through the mirror, not hiding her smirk as she lifted a brow in "concern".

"Yes my lady?"

"You're dismissed. Tell the king that I have no need for you or anyone to help me with my appearance."

Her eyes widened and she shook her head. "But-"

I glared at her. "I don't need someone who will use me and my family for gossip hour. Get. Out. Now."

She shot me a sneer and Eren sat up glaring at her icily for her disrespect as she left. When she turned back to protest once again, I flashed white eyes at her and my incisors elongated. She shrieked and swam off as fast as she could, crashing into several passing nobles who sneered at her. Aiden came up to me and giggled as he poked my teeth. I retracted them making him gasp and I smiled. He always loved watching me change my appearance. I kissed his head and looked at Eren. He shook his head with a smile.

"That's the fourth one today."

I snorted. "All of them are rough and nasty. Did you see the smirk on her face when she nearly yanked my hair from my skull?"

"Not every servant you have is going to be as amazing and kind as Georgia was."

I got quiet and turned back to the mirror. He sighed as I started combing through my hair. Georgia and Cobius were still a sore spot for me. The guilt I felt was like a slow festering wound that was only just starting to heal. Aiden got in my lap and grabbed my face with his little hands and kissed my chin.

"Don't be sad mommy."

I nodded and ran a hand through his black hair. He looked like a four year old now and Eren assured me that his growth was slowing down. His little tail was as black as his father's and covered in little white specks. The nursery mermaids loved him. With his unique tail, black hair, and my emerald eyes he was enchanting. He could speak just fine now and Eren was already starting to teach him things. Nothing too intellectual but he would teach him about how the kingdoms worked and he was already reading and writing just fine. I would often teach him about the customs and cultures of the world out of the water. We would go to some of the farms when a creature was sick and help some of the mer who needed it. My marine biology background made it easier to tell why something happened or how to fix it. Aiden absolutely loved to play with the animals and they seemed to enjoy being around him as well.

"Mommy's not sad, my little prince. She just missed her friends."

He grinned, his little teeth all white. "I'll be your friend mommy!"

"Thank you, Aiden."

Eren shook his head laughing a little and I frowned at his hair. "Come here Eren."

He looked at me warily. "Why?"

Grinning, I held up the scissors that the woman had brought in. His eyes got wide and he started to drift away from me. I shot up and grabbed his arms pulling him to the chair. He gave me an annoyed glare of defeat and relaxed in the chair reluctantly. With a smile, I trimmed his hair to chin length with layers and gave him a side fringe. Aiden smiled and helped me clean up the mess as Eren shook out his hair. I smiled and gave him a quick kiss pushing him back. I spent the next five minutes pulling my hair into a long plait with several shells and a few strands hanging out. I was lining my eyes with a black liner when a servant came in to tell us we had five minutes to get to the room that we were using for our meeting. I quickly painted my lips red and we pulled Aiden with us.
