"We're home!"
Anilena's parents paraded into the living room with bags and gifts wrapped in shiny red paper. She lifted her head from my shoulder and we both turned and smiled at them. They were in khaki shorts and Hawaiian shirts. Lena frowned in confusion.
"I thought you guys went on a fishing trip."
Her mom smiled. "We went decided to head to a casino instead."
She laughed and I shook my head at her, amused. They set the gifts on the coffee table in front of the couch where we were laying before dragging their bags up to their room. I kissed her head as Andy flew down the stairs, tripping and rolling halfway across the room. I gasped and sat up with Lena as he jumped up laughing. I chuckled and rolled my eyes. He was going to land himself in a wheelchair permanently one of these days. Their mom screamed from the top of the stairs to stop being a moron as her and their dad climbed down the stairs slower than Andy had. I sat at the end of the couch as Andy shoved his sister into me when he sat down.
"Jesus, Andrew," she hissed. "You're almost eighteen and you're acting like a five year old."
"Shut up Lena! Not everyone can be as stuck up as you."
Her eyes flashed black. "You better watch your mouth you little brat."
"Ooh! I'm so scared!"
Before she could lunge for him, I pulled her against my side. Their mom sighed in exasperation as their dad groaned. "Can't you two behave? You're both adults!" Lena glared at her brother and her mom groaned. "Just open the gifts. The big one is for Andy and the little ones are for you and Eren."
I smiled at her. "Thank you, Mrs. Connor."
She shushed me and smiled with a little blush on her cheeks. Lena handed me a small box and I opened it to find a small silver key on a chain. It was engraved with waves and tentacles wrapped around it. Several shells and starfish were on it and it looked faded rustic. A metallic copper color was rubbed on it giving it a vintage look. I heard Lena gasp and looked over to see that she had a similar necklace with a lock instead of a key. It was a small chest that was covered in shells and tentacles wrapped around the sides of it. It was covered in the same copper paint and I smiled. I had the key to her chest. She looked over at the box in my hand and her eyes filled with tears. I paled and looked at her parents. What was wrong? Did I do something? I watched as she launched herself at me attacking my lips. My shocked cry was muffled by her lips as she kissed me. My eyes closed and I pulled her against me kissing back just as furious as her. When I pulled away, she was crying and I turned her to her parents, knowing that it was them that she should be showering in affections. She got up hugging her mother tightly and kissing her father on his cheeks. Andrew just laughed as Lena cried and smiled. I looked at his box to see that it was still unopened. I dismissed it when he set it on the table to peel his sister from their parents. She sat next to my wiping her eyes and blushing a dark red that made me smile.
"Sorry for overreacting like that," she said calmly. "It's just so special and perfect."
I took the necklace from the box and fastened it around her neck. "She's right. Thank you both for the gifts," I said as I placed my own around my neck and looked at her parents. "Thank you very much."
Mr. Connor shook his head. "It wasn't a big deal. You're part of the family now."
I smiled at him and nodded. Shelby came down the stairs with Aiden in her arms and Anilena smiled.
"We need to get back to the kingdom. The wedding ceremonies need to be planned."
I looked at Lena's parents, who looked at us confused. Lena smiled reassuringly at them. "It's okay guys. We'll still have a wedding on land. I wouldn't deny you of that."
