It's amazing how big of a difference about twenty people can make. Our surprise attack quickly turned the tables. The Versatile troops are one of the most advanced sectors there are. We are the supernatural... Elites I guess. We whipped out our weapons. With a furious scream, I leapt over the boulder and started swinging my dual swords. Like deadly silver ribbons, they swirled and spun around me. I thought of Ace, all the Supernaturals shown on the television, dead or dying because of these men. We all were in danger because of them. A bullet whizzed passed my ear, almost hitting a Defensive Versatile, but I stopped the bullet in midair with my telekinesis and shot it back in the direction that it came from. Then I was super angry. Not only were these people making some innocent Supernaturals suffer, they were trying to kill my troops! I went into a rage, and was so angry and filled with adrenaline I don't even truly remember the details of what had happened. ( to tell you the truth, I'm kind of glad that I don't remember that much because there was probably a lot of blood and all that disgusting stuff. ) My swords swung around me, all my daggers out of my belt and stabbing left and right. I raised my shield just in time to deflect a knife flying at me. Now was when my ability was really useful. I could hold every weapon at once and throw kicks and punches at the enemy without even having to get really close to them. I then heard it: the marching of more enemy soldiers. I knew it was the enemy, because only they have footsteps that loud. Supernaturals of our battalion have been trained to make their footsteps as quiet as possible in whatever circumstance. There were lots of them. The major problem was the fact that we were being outnumbered. Even though we had Supernaturals with weapons and their gifts, if every supernatural represented three human soldiers, and we had about 100 people, they had about 200 right now, and 300 more coming in. That was way too many, and more men meant more ammo and more weaponry. We were in big trouble. We were no match for them. And I didn't have the time to think out a solution. I couldn't contact the other generals for their help, so this was practically a split second decision that could be either the life or death of my troops.
" VERSATILE TROOPS! " I yelled at the top of my lungs, my voice very gravelly and sounding pretty messed up, " "RETREAT IMMEDIATELY "
I then used all the telekinetic power that I had left in me to make a big protective force field like bubble surrounding the Versatile soldiers that were close to me, and pushing all the enemies out of the bubble. The other Versatiles came rushing toward me, knocking through any enemy in their path to me. Mark knew what to do. Once we quickly made sure that everyone was with us in our bubble of safety, Mark yelled
" Form a circle around the General and link arms! Quickly, don't question it!"
So that's what everyone did. And then everything blacked out, and we were gone. Mark had used all of his energy that was left to teleport all 27 of our Versatile troops back to Base. We landed right in front of the heavily guarded gates of Terragentem. There were some people from the Guard sector who were on defense and looked really surprised, and then alarmed. They aimed their weapons at us. I tried to stand up, but the use of so much telekinesis at once had sapped all my energy. Two of my soldiers understood that I was having trouble, so they reached down and helped me up, supporting me as I had an arm draped around either one of their shoulders.
"It's fine Guard." I said, exhausted " It's just the Versatile Troops. You can do all your procedures if you want to though. "
This whole time, they still had not lowered their weapons. Of course, there was a battle just about two miles away from the hidden base, so it's right that they were being super protective. Not only was it part of the job that they had, but it was probably orders.
" First, we need to ask some questions to make sure that you aren't impostors. " one of the Guards said, probably the leader of the Defensive Guard. " Who are you, what sector are you from, and who are your Commanders?"
" I am Nick, user of Telekinesis, Versatile General, of Versatile obviously, and my Commanders are Mark as Defense and Spencer as Combatant. The rest of the people here are my troops, and if needed I can name everyone of them and their ability. And, just to prove I am who I say, I know that your General is Alex of Defense, and that you are the Commander of Defense, and the blond to your left is named Eric, and is the Deputy of Defense. Is there any other things you need answered? " I said, almost tauntingly. I don't know why I felt so smug at the moment, probably because I was tired and freaked out and just wanted to get back to Versatile Base and contact the other Generals using the micro-bud tool that we all have to wear inside our ear, so we can use it and a mic to talk and listen to each other. It never failed, ( it was made so it would be fail proof ) so I had to contact everyone and tell them they should make their troops retreat and all that. Unless they were already heading back to Base, which I seriously hoped they were. But I wasn't so sure about Hunter's troops. He's a great General and all, but sometimes he takes his battles too seriously and won't stop until the enemy is defeated. If needed, I might have to actually send a Combatant Messenger to go and tell him that he must retreat.
Anyway, the guards all looked at each other, nodded, and let us through. I had to be supported, and Mark was entirely unconscious, but only because of his massive teleporting trick, not from a wound of any sort. We rushed back to our Versatile Base, and I immediately ordered George and Liam to help me contact the other Generals. They were all quickly contacted with Liam and George's amazing technological skills. Hunter took some convincing to retreat, but we finally got some sense to him by threatening to have a Master come and get him. I, once drinking some nasty tasting concoction made by someone from the Healing sector, had regained my strength back, and went down to the gates of Terragentem to help get the other troops in. The Healers were being scattered everywhere to help the injured. Once it was clear to me that all the sectors that had gone to war were back in Terragentem, I went back to the Versatile Base to do some very heavy thinking about the battle we had lost. So much supernatural blood spilled. So many people killed, supernatural and human alike. The World War III had just begun, and I was already tired of it.
