Jungkook cleared his throat, seemingly in an effort to diffuse the tension, and asked, "So, um, you know our names but we haven't learned yours yet."

Hoseok let go of my wrist and offered his hand to Jungkook, flashing him a smile. "Yes, I'm sorry about that. I'm Jung Hoseok, I'm an attorney with Hong and Associates. I'm an old friend of Namjoon's."

"Right, he's mentioned you before. He said you guys grew up together," Jungkook said.

I nudged Hoseok's arm and joked, "So Namjoon's told his friends about you, but you never mentioned me to Namjoon at all. Are you ashamed of me?"

"Of course not, you ass," he teased. "I just knew that when he found out that my best friend was a hot girl that he'd want your number and I'd be chopped liver."

"Whatever, back then I wasn't a hot girl," I laughed. I heard Seokjin clearing his throat and I couldn't stop my eyes from traveling to his. He swallowed hard as he stared intensely at me and something about the force of his gaze made it impossible to look away.

"Don't listen to her, guys, Emmie has always been beautiful. It just took her a while to see it for herself," Hoseok said, nudging my arm back. I could hear him speaking and understood what he was saying but I couldn't look away from Seokjin.

"Well, it's nice to finally meet you, Hoseok. And you?" Jungkook asked, turning his gaze toward me.

In that moment I blinked a few times, breaking the trance Seokjin had pulled me into. As I looked at Jungkook, I realized that Seokjin wasn't looking at me like he always had before. His eyes were full of different emotions but the one that was standing out to me was the most surprising of all...he looked remorseful. Too little too late, I thought to myself.

I smiled at Jungkook and I held out my hand to him and replied, "I'm Dr. Emmie Bright. It's a pleasure to meet you Jungkook."

"Oh you're a doctor, huh?" Jimin asked me, his tone appreciative. "That's hot. If I say I'm sick will you take care of me, make me feel good?"

I snickered at his question and rolled my eyes playfully. Jimin was a total flirt...he was going to be fun to hang out with.

"Jimin," Taehyung warned. That was the first word he'd muttered since we came over to their section. His voice was deep and complimented his quiet commanding presence. "She's a lady, please be respectful."

I noticed Seokjin shooting daggers at Jimin as well and he looked menacing. That was the face I remembered always seeing on Seokjin and it made me feel very uneasy.

Jimin placed his hand over his heart and gave me a look that read as apologetic and flirty at the same time. "You're right Tae, I'm sorry. It's nice to officially meet you Doc."

"So, Dr. Bright huh?" Jungkook said. "Do you practice here in Seoul?"

"Well, as a matter of fact, I'm actually starting at SNUH this week. I'm the new attending physician in the emergency department," I replied and my answer was met with a very warm handsome smile from him.

"Really? That's nice, I'll have to show you around then," he said. "I'm an attending there as well."

"Wait, so you're a doctor too?" I asked, surprised. "You really don't look old enough, no offense."

Jungkook smiled and said, "None taken, Emmie. I just did well in school and graduated early, that's all."

"That's all, he says, like he's not a baby genius," Yoongi said, snickering before taking a long smooth gulp of his drink. Jungkook playfully nudged him with his arm. "This guy here graduated high school at thirteen, graduated college at seventeen, and was already a practicing physician by twenty."
