Later that week, the sound of my phone ringing woke me up out of a dream about purple monkeys chasing me through my town.

“Woah.” I muttered, sitting up to grab my phone.

Danielle’s face was on the screen and I pressed the green button to accept her call.

“Morning sleepyhead.” She chirped.

“Dani its like eight in the morning. Why are you so chipper?” I groaned.

“I have a one year old. I’ve been up since five and already did my pilates.” She said.

“I already did my pilates.” I mimicked, climbing out of bed and looking out the window.

“Its so nice and I think we should take Elena on a walk and grab lunch.” She said.

“Okay, sounds good. I don’t have classes today. Want to meet at your place at ten?” I asked.

We made plans and I hung up and got into the shower. Once I got out, I felt much more refreshed and awake. I wrapped a big, fluffy towel around my body and ran a comb through my hair as I looked through my closet. I grabbed a pair of skinny jeans and a white piko top with a long necklace and flats.

An hour later I was ready to head out. I threw my wallet, keys, phone, and sunglasses into my large tote bag and made my way down to the kitchen.

“Mom?” I called.

“Hey baby.” She said, walking into the kitchen.

“You look nice.” She said, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear.

“I’m meeting Dani and Alena for lunch.” I said, grabbing an empty water bottle from the cabinet and filling it up with ice and water.

I pulled my phone out and checked to see if Kyle responded to my good morning text. I frowned when I saw that he read and hadn’t answered it. That wasn’t normally like him.

“I’m gonna  head to their house now. I have a lot of homework so I won’t be out too long.” I said. Tossing the water bottle in the tote.

“Okay, have fun.” My mom said, kissing my cheek.

I slid the sunglasses down over my eyes and made my way out the front door and toward my car. I climbed in and turned the key, causing country music to blast through the speakers.

I wrapped my long hair up into a ponytail before rolling down the windows and sun-roof, not that Alena wouldn’t end up messing my hair up within ten minutes.

Twenty minutes and a solid jam sesh later I pulled up to Kevin and Danielle’s massive house and put the car in park. I never realized how large this house really is.

I climbed out and walked up to the door and knocked.

“Who is it Alena?” I heard Dani coo on the other side of the door before opening it.

“Hey! You clean up nice.” She said, opening the door wide enough so I could come in.

“Who is it?” I heard Kevin say as he walked in.

“Oh hey Ariana.” He smiled and gave me a hug.

“Hey!” I said, hugging him back.

“Where are you two off to?” He asked.

“Three.” Dani said, bouncing Alena on her hip.

“Of course.” He said, giving her a kiss.

“We’re going to the park and then to lunch.” She said.

“Well that seems fun.” He said.
