we didn't have a case for two days and i thank whatever higher power is out there for this blessing.
i get the good news via phone while i was sitting criss-cross next to you on the floor of your cold bathroom, holding beethoven tight in my arms as you pet her, cooing sweet nothing at the fur ball.
we decided to keep her in the bathroom until she opened up to us and then we'd introduce her to the rest of the house. this was to prevent overwhelming her, which made sense. you had insisted all of this after doing extensive research about "welcoming a cat into your home".
it makes my heart warm, everything about our situation. beethoven felt like a testament to our love. she makes it real. and you care so much. it's like your trying to prove something. trying to prove that you can share our love, maybe.
i tell you about our day off and you thank beethoven, claiming she's responsible for the gift which makes me laugh.
i spent the next two days basking in your presence, (and beethovens) learning everything there is to know about cats, thanks to your boy wonder brain.

Fanfictionspencer, i'll remember how i'd loved you. even after i saw the hate behind your sweet eyes and messy statistics. even after i heard casually cruel words leave the same sugary lips that you used to plant soft kisses on my cheeks. even after i saw you...
