I Guess I lost My Job?

Chapter 10: We're Walking to a Bouncy House, so Small Talk is Required

 "So.. Do you wanna go onto a more... mellow ride?" Edgar hoped she wanted to go onto a more mellow ride, He was shook from the roller coaster after all.

"Yeah we should. That was well, scary. Eugh." Colette said in disgust. The same way that you would say if 'roller coaster' was your least favourite food.

"Rico's Bounce House?" Edgar suggested. "Cool! We gotta wait for the machine thing to inflate the bounce house though."

"Yeah we got the time. But hang on, let me use my phone for a sec."

Edgar took his phone out and opened his messaging app.

"Hey old man, I have a shift. Heading home late." Was what he texted Byron. Yeah, he totally had a shift.

Edgar put his phone back into his pocket. "C'mon. Let's go."

"Are we gonna parkour there again?" Colette asked. It was fun.

"Nah, let's just walk there. The night is young!" Edgar said boldly.

"Heehee! Yeah!" Colette said and the two went to the bounce house.

"So... What did you do in that orphanage of yours?" Edgar said.

"Nothing much. I think it kinda feels like living in a boarding school? Yeah, it does. But everyone who goes to school lived there." Colette stated.

"Boarding schools are usually abroad and you live at school 'cuz it's so far, right?"

"Yep!" Colette said.

"Did you get bullied or something? Or were you a troublemaker?" Edgar asked. He was quite curious about her younger days.

"Sometimes got bullied, but not always. And I wouldn't really say I got into trouble lots but sometimes, yes. Nothing severe."

"That is definitely cleaner than my school life." Edgar stated.

"You got into trouble often?" "Not exactly. More like I get framed a lot. But yeah I had okay grades."

"That's bad. What if you weren't framed at all?" Colette said.

"That is an interesting question. The amount of punishment from the teacher would decrease a lot."

"And, my permanent record would be way more clean." Edgar joked.

"Yeah, it definitely will be. Maybe shining white, even!" Colette giggled.

"Or with a few splotches!" Laughing, they walked to the bounce house.
