Chapter 4- The Beaver

"Maybe we should go back." Susan suggests. "Can't we at least take a look around?" Edmund asks his older sister. "I think Lucy must decide!" Peter suggested. "I want you all to meet Mr. Tumnus! He wants to see Alex again as well!" Lucy told her big brother causing him to smile "Well Mr. Tumnus it is." The children all walk into the wardrobe again. "We can't just walk around in these clothes!" Susan protests. Peter disappears but then comes out holding big fluffy coats. "We can use these coats."

"Peter, they don't belong to us." The older girl scolds. "Well I don't think the professor will mind. And if you think about it logically we are not even taking them out of the wardrobe." Alex points out. Peter Hands a coat to each child "But that's a girl's coat!" Edmund wines as he is handed his coat. "I know." Peter says to his younger brother grinning.

The children all start walking toward Mr. Tumnus' cave through snow. Alex and Lucy notice the door is open and run towards it. "LUCY! ALEX!" Peter yells. They all run to Tumnus' house. "Who would do something like this?" Lucy asks for tears on the verge of falling.

Edmund steps on broken picture of Tumnus's dad "Alex, what is that on the wall?" Susan asks the brunette.

Alex reads it out "The Former occupant of these premises, the Faun Tumnus, is under arrest and awaiting his trial on a charge of High Treason against her imperial Majesty Jadis, Queen of Narnia, Chatelaine of Cair Paravel, Empress of the Lone Islands, also to comforting her said Majesty's enemies, harbouring spies and fraternizing with Humans. signed Maugrim, captain of the Secret Police, Long live the Queen."

"Now we should really go." Susan tells them "But we have to help him!" Lucy tells the older girl. "It's out of our hands now Lu." The second eldest tells the young girl sighing no one liked seeing Lucy upset. "You don't get it do you? We're the human!!! He helped Us!" Alex shouts starting to get angry he felt at fault for what happened to Mr tumnus. "Maybe we should call the police." Peter suggests causing alex to roll his eyes. "These are the police!" Alex points out. "Besides, he's a criminal!" Edmund shouts. Peter turns to Lucy "Don't worry Lucy, we'll think of something."

"Psst!" Alex hears a robin say. "Did that bird just 'psst' us?" Susan questions.

They step outside, they hear rustles from the bushes. A Beaver approaches "It's a beaver." Lucy tells them. Peter approaches the beaver, clicking his tongue "Here, boy." he clicks "come here..."clicks. Peter lets out his hand, the Beaver stares at it then sits upright. "Well, I ain't gonna smell it if that's what you want!" The beaver tells him, causing Alex to laugh. "It's a talking beaver!" Edmund shouts.

"Alex and Lucy Pevensie?" it asks. "Yes?" Both children said. Mr. Beaver hands Lucy the handkerchief. "This is the handkerchief I gave to Mr-" "Tumnus. He gave it to me just before they took him." The beaver tells them.
