DreamXD Pov:

As soon as I turned the corner I teleported outside of the city back into the Crimson Forest. I needed some space or I might end up doing something I might regret.

I didn't feel bad for what I did, if anything it has only left me annoyed and frustrated. Never in my infinite existence have I been rejected in such a way, but at the same time I have never pursued a mortal before. This is all completely foreign to me. For all I know I could be going about this in the wrong way.

Although, seeing my little human get all worked up like that made it almost worth the damage control. That interaction has only left me craving more. Just thinking about it made a slight shiver down my spine.

I sigh, as much as I hate to say it, I'm going to need help if I want this to work. Then someone came to mind. Lady Death herself.

Lady Death is another deity, one of enchantment, illusion, and abjuration. She is in charge of protecting the spirits in the afterlife. Guiding them, and giving peace. Or punishing them for heinous crimes. If I'm being honest she most definitely would know a thing or two about how to gain the affections of a mortal.

I remember how I would constantly question why mortals were so interesting to her, at the time I just didn't understand why she would put so much effort into building connections with them.

Yet here I am, blindly chasing after this mortal for reasons unannounced to me. I take a deep breath, well this is going to be a serious blow to my pride. A god of knowledge and wisdom asking someone for advice, I'm not a fan of irony.

Well I shouldn't waste time, let's just get this over with. I focus my magica into my hands and begin to carve a gate. I kneeled down to the ground and began to gingerly draw a circle into the rich soil, followed by the spell runes which despite their complex designs come like second nature to me. I could feel my magica flow out of my fingertips with every trail I left in the soil, and as soon as the last rune was complete a light green glow flowed into each crevice like a water flowing in a stream. I got back to my feet taking each step with the utmost care as to not destroy my work. Now all I had to do was state the plane I wish to go to.

"Plane of Souls...".

As my words left my mouth into the open air, the center of the spell circle began to distort and shift. The grass and soil slowly started to peel away revealing a smooth stone path lined with purple grasses and small glowing flowers. The souls of the dead wandered the open field. Talking or picking flowers.

Without hesitation I hop forward down through the gate. I land lightly taking a moment to get accustomed to the raw magic in the air. Has it really been that long? I looked up at the sky which was full of stars, the sky itself taking on colors that of blue, pink, and purple.

I turned my attention to a small cottage in the distance which was slightly covered by the branches, and pink leaves of large lilac trees. I stretch my wings out pushing off the ground flying towards the cottage. It only took a few seconds for me to reach my destination, and as I landed I heard the faint gasps and screams of fairies as they all hid from my plane of view, even the animals would quickly flee at the sight of me. I gazed around the small garden, Lady Death was nowhere to be seen. How annoying.

In the corner of my eye I see a fairy fly out of the bushes towards the cottage. I quickly cast a minor spell holding them in place, and the fairy stops in her tracks. "Where is Lady Madeline?" I say, voice forward and threatening, causing the fairy to tremble in fear. "Oh leave that poor thing alone DreamXD." A familiar smooth voice entered my ears, and I glanced over to see exactly who I was looking for, Lady Death.

I look at her for a moment. Her skin was pale and She had long wavy dark brown hair. She wore a large dark purple sun hat with a vail running all round the edge of the hat that ran all the way down right above her ankles. The dress she wore was a dark purple with the bottom mirroring the night sky. The dress was decorated with brass accents and a brass crest on her chest. I let go of my hold on the fairy allowing it to zip out of my view.

"Lady Death! Just who I was looking for." I say pleased, she smiled kindly walking to a maribel cast and sitting down placing her hands gingerly in her lap.

Every movement she made was smooth and gentle. I don't know how she does it. Then again I don't have nearly as much patience as her.

“So what brings you here my friend?” Lady Death focuses her gaze on me, causing me to get a bit nervous, but I recover and match her gaze with one of my own, “I…” I pause, “I need your help…”. Her eyes widened, “You need my help?” her voice was shocked and unsure.

I rubbed the back of my neck in embarrassment as I nodded. She tilts her head, “What would you need my help for?” I growl under my breath, “Well, there is… this mortal-” before I could finish my sentence the woman gasps covering her mouth, before squealing in excitement and tackling me into a tight embrace.

I flair out my wings to stop myself from falling over, “I can’t believe it! I knew that you would find someone someday!” I peer at her, “Let go!” I struggled against her grip but she had me good. “Who was it that said mortals were a waste of time?” she looked up at me with a prideful smile, I rolled my eyes in response. “Please don’t…”.

“Who said it?” she chirps, staring into my soul, “I did.” I mumbled. She nodded in satisfaction, “And who was wrong?” I growled loudly, “I was! Now are you going to help me or not!?”
Lady Death finally releases me from her tight hold causing me to stumble as I quickly regain balance. She claps her hands together with a huge smile on her face, "Yes, yes of course!" She grabs my hand and sits me down with a huge smile on her face "So tell me, what are they like?".

I froze, what was he like? I… I didn't know what he was like. I had only been around him for less than a day and a half, at the time that didn't matter to me. I just saw him and knew I wanted him. I felt my face go slightly red in embarrassment, "I don't know…" I looked down avoiding her gaze. "Ah, I see." She hummed. We both stayed silent for a moment.

Lady Death looked at me with a knowing gaze, I could see a tinge of fear in her eyes. She let out a long sigh, "I would love nothing more than to give you advice, but I know if I do you will not follow it." I turned to her in slight offense, "What are you saying?" My voice held an unintentionally threatening tone causing the goddess to tense up, "Look, I know you XD. You're impatient.” I opened my mouth to rebuttal but then I realized she was right.

I’m so used to having things in the blink of an eye that I have trouble waiting for anything. It's an unfortunate flaw of mine.

The woman placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder, “I will say this, mortals prefer to have free will. They want their opinions to be recognised and heard.”

I scoff in amusement, what a idiotic way to- “You laugh now, but if you don’t internalize this. You will not get what you want XD.”.  I look to the side, "So you're telling me I need to consider his feelings?" She simply nodded, retracting her hand from my shoulder and turning around to look at the many flowers in her garden.

I sigh standing up, "Well this was very enlightening. Thank you… Kristen." I say the last part is a little quieter, but I saw her smile as it left my mouth. It's been so long since I last called her that, but at the same time maybe there was a reason for that. I look back on the last time before leaving the garden and heading back to the gate.
