George Pov:

If I was being honest, I was having trouble keeping up with Patches.

She was moving so efficiently compared to me. Climbing or ducking under objects to avoid crowds, and straight up walking under moving carts in the street.

I mean she had the obvious advantage of being a cat, so I can't be too mad. But I felt like I was going to lose her if I slowed down in the slightest.

This cat had me running just to keep up with her.

To anyone watching. I probably looked like a madman.

I didn't even know where I was going! I was too focused on keeping up and I didn't care to look. I only knew we were heading back towards the city wall.

Then I noticed Patches had stopped at a four way road.

I looked around breathing heavily, "Is this were-"

As soon as I made it to her, she jumped on to the baggage boot of a moving stagecoach…

What!?

I looked on in complete disarray.

Patches tilted her head at me as she laid on her side, letting one of her paws hang loosely off the coach.

It was at that moment when everything felt extremely intentional.

"Are you-! Uhhhhhggg!" I quickly tailed her across the street, nearly getting run over in the process.

"Watch where you're going!" The man screamed from his cart.

I yelled back, "How about you learn to drive! Prick." That last part was more under my breath. I didn't care if he heard or not.

I came to a stop. Shit where did she go?

I could not believe what was happening right now. I was chasing a cat through the city, and I'm pretty sure said cat was mocking me.

I'm officially out of my mind.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but you appear to be lost." I turned my head, a furmilleur voice catching my attention.

"Nick? What are you doing here?" I say, still slightly out of breath.

He shrugged, the sound of metal from his full plate following the movement, "I'm on patrol. What are you doing running around, and almost getting run over?"

I looked down. "Umm, I'm uh… looking for a… cat." I mumbled embarrassed. This is not a good moment for me.

Nick tilted his head, "You have a cat?" He asked, puzzled.

"... Yes, my cat… in fact she ran away! You should help me find her." I was being a little demanding, but if I was going to continue to chase this cat around might as well do it with company.

Nick pinched his temple, "You know I'm on duty right? While I'm helping you find a cat, I could be saving someone from being mugged or robbed."

I hum, placing a finger on my chin, "Well, you took an oath to help anyone in need when you joined the guard. And I am in need right now soooo, you're basically bound by oath to help me find this cat."

There was this presumptuous tone about me. It was intentional of course. I mean what kind of best friend would I be if I didn't mess with him at every waking moment.

Nick let out a sigh of defeat, "Fine, you rat. I'll help you, but if this takes-"

"Don't be a baby, It shouldn't take that long."
