I woke up the following Thursday to the sound of my phone ringing.

Caller ID: Samantha.

I picked up the phone. "Hello?"

"Hey, how's the new neighbor?" She asked.

"Is that really why you called me at," I looked at the time on my phone. "8:26 in the morning? It's summer, go to sleep."

"I actually was going to ask you if I could come over today, but alright grumpy pants." She said in surrender.

"Fine," I rolled my eyes in defeat. "I'll call you when I'm ready but I'm going back to sleep."

We said our goodbyes and hung up.

3 hours later, at 11, I had gotten out of bed and took a shower. I put on a white t-shirt, black skinny jeans, and the black flats I had worn the previous night.

I picked up my phone to text Samantha.

'Hey, I'm ready. You can come over now.'

'One step ahead of you! Already on my way.'

I smiled lightly, walking downstairs. My mom had gone off to her part-time job, and my dad had gone to work. The boys were most likely with my grandma, meaning I had the house to myself. I walked out to my front yard, grabbing the mail from the mailbox.

I looked over next door to see Justin's mom watering soil, in which I assumed she put plant seeds in. She saw me and waved, and I waved back. Justin drove up in an all-black car, into their driveway. He got out, greeted his mother and waved at me. I felt a tap on my shoulder, turning to see Samantha in front of me. I gave her a hug, then saw Justin at the fence that separated his yard from mine.

"Hi," Samantha greeted. "I'm Samantha."

"Justin," He replied, giving her a half-smile then looking at me. "Morning, Madison."

"Morning, Justin, wanna join us?" I asked, mentally smacking myself after I did.

"Join you in what?" He asked, curiously.

"We're just gonna head to the park," Samantha answered for me. "We were gonna ride our bikes."

"Oh, I have a bike," he stated. "Sure, I'll go, just let me grab it."

I bit down on my bottom lip, walking to my garage to do what the boy that was just in front of us was going to do.

I pulled out my bike, and saw Samantha had left hers leaning against my front fence.

Justin kissed his mother's cheek, telling her goodbye, walking over to us with his bike at his side. He crossed his right leg so that he had one leg on on either side of the bicycle, and sat on the small seat.

Samantha and I both did the same, and I started paddling, smoothly speeding down the sidewalk to avoid conversation with either of them.

I could hear them talking behind me, speaking of how both of them had met me, and about themselves in general.

When Samantha asked Justin to tell her about him, he left out the detail he had told me the night before; of when he moved to New York from Stratford because of the girl who had severely harrassed him.

I guess he felt as if he didn't trust her just yet, or he told me that because I had told him my "story", you could call it.

Once we made it to the park, I was still quite ahead of both Sam and Justin.

We rode across the part of the path on the ground where it was indicated that you could ride bikes on, and made it to seats that were by a small lake.
