The following day, the tapping of the rain on my window woke me up. It was raining extremely hard, so I decided I was going to stay in. My dad still went to work, and my mom left a note saying she was over at Justin's place, having coffee with Pattie. My brothers were with her, too, and even though I would love to see Justin right now, I wasn't really in the mood to go over there. It was about 2p.m., and Justin hadn't texted or called me. I didn't bother to text him since I guessed he was busy or in a bad mood. In the middle of my movie, my phone started ringing. Justin.

"Hello?" I picked up.

"Hey," he replied. "What's up? Are you okay?"

"Yeah, why?"

"You didn't see me today."

"Yeah, the weather just kinda sucks."

He sighed, sensing I was upset. Nothing was really bothering me, I was just in a gloomy mood.

"Okay, well, let me know if you need anything. I'll talk to you later, okay?"

"Okie-dokie."

I hung up, seeing a text from Samantha.

Sam: Hey, would you pleaaaase come to this party with me? I don't wanna go by myself ):

I sighed. I wasn't in the mood to go to some party where I'd be bored out of my mind, but whatever.

To: Sam
Okay, fine. But you owe me big time.

Sam: Yes! And anything you want, I promise.

I set down my phone, getting ready. I put on an all black outfit with white sneakers. I texted Justin, asking if he was going, and he replied yes. I sighed, knowing he was probably still worried about me. Once I was done, I walked downstairs to see Samantha talking to my mom.

"You got here pretty quick," I said to Samantha, interrupting her small talk.

"Well yeah," she agreed. "I don't live that far, you know."

"I know."

"Are you ready?" She stood up, walking over to me and giving me a slight hug as I nodded. I said bye to my mom and Samantha and I walked outside. I looked over at Justin's house, seeing his car was still parked in the driveway. I wanted to go to the party with him, but I didn't want to ditch Samantha.

"Do you want to wait for him?" She asked, bringing me out of my daydream.

"I mean," I shrugged. "I don't want to keep you waiting."

"Nah, it's okay. You're my bestfriend, I'd wait days for you."

I smiled at the kind statement, walking over to Justin's front door. I knocked lightly and waited until Justin opened the door. He was in shorts and a t-shirt, his hair messed up, and he looked exhausted.

"Hey," I said, hugging him lightly. "Are you okay?"

He nodded. "I'm just tired."

"Oh," I sighed out. "Well, you don't have to go to that party. We can always hang out tomorrow."

"It's fine," he stated. "I just haven't gotten much sleep but that's usual."
