Song of the Chapter: "Better Left Unsaid" by Ariana Grande
______________________I woke up in my bed, at about 12:30 in the afternoon. I had no clue how I got here, but I'm assuming Justin had brought me here again. I got out of bed, brushed my teeth, and walked downstairs. I was in my pajamas and I'm more than positive Justin didn't put me in those, so it might've been my mom or dad. I saw my mom wasn't in the kitchen, my brothers weren't playing in the living room, and I knew my dad was off to work. I walked inside the kitchen and saw a note on the fridge as I was about to get juice.
Madison,
I know you'll wake up and get a glass of orange juice right away so I left this note on the fridge. But I've taken your brothers to daycare and I'm over at Pattie and Justin's house. You'll probably come to see Justin so I'll see you there!
Love, Mom
I chuckled at the beginning of the note, smiling softly. I got a glass of juice before going upstairs to take a shower and get ready to go over to Justin's house.
I did as so, going upstairs into my bathroom, stripping myself of my clothing and taking a quick shower. I got out, changing into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. I put on my white high-top Converse and grabbed my phone, going downstairs and outside. I locked the door and walked to Justin's house. I knocked on the door, and when opened, a girl was revealed. I never really saw her, she didn't look like anyone from school either. She was a dirty blonde, her hair was long and straight. She had a light tan, not a dark summer tan like most girls in our school get. She was wearing a black skater skirt and a white tank top, with black flats.
"Who are you?" She asked politely, bringing me out of my thoughts of how much better she looked compared to me.
"I'm uh, Madison. My mom's here, and I'm Justin's friend." I said, probably feeling more nervous than I should be.
"Ohh, okay," she said, which kept me wondering why the hell she hasn't let me in yet??
"Anna! That's Mrs. Santiago's daughter! Let her in!" The voice that called was unfamiliar, but she did as she was told and let me in. I walked inside and to the kitchen, seeing my mom sitting with Pattie and another unfamiliar lady while drinking coffee. I saw the girl go downstairs, obviously to Justin. I greeted my mom and Pattie and introduced myself to the lady who was Anna's mother. I looked down, not wanting to sit, until Pattie told me I could go up and be in Justin's room.
"Um, I'll go say hi to him, but I think I'm gonna go back home."
All three women furrowed their eyebrows.
"Are you okay, sweetie?" My mom asked. "Justin's your friend, I'm sure he'd love to hang out."
"I uh, um," I stuttered, trying to come up with some lame excuse. "I made plans with Samantha! She's coming over later."
My mom said okay and I walked over to the stairs, walking down to Justin's room. The door was open, and I peeked in before barging in. Anna and Justin were both sitting in front of his bed and they were laughing. I sighed, walking in slowly, and caught Justin's attention. I caught Anna rolling her eyes and checking her phone as if she wanted absolutely nothing to do with me. (I honestly don't know why she hates me all of a sudden if we hadn't even properly met.)
Justin got up and gave me a hug. "You look nervous," he caught on. "What's wrong?"
I shook my head. "Nothing, just came to say hi."
He gave me a look of disappointment. "You're not staying?"
I looked down at the girl again, and looked back at him, shaking my head again.
"Are you okay, did I do something?" He asked in a worried tone.
"You didn't do anything, I'm just gonna be at my house with Samantha."
"I can go with yo-"
"You have company." I said, signaling the girl currently sitting down on his carpet.
"She's just my cousin," he said lightly. "Her mom's upstairs, and she's not gonna hang with you guys since she thinks you're like every other teen here who thinks I'm gorgeous or something."
I raised my eyebrow at him, since he obviously knew that I thought he was gorgeous, I mean, look at him, Jesus Christ, he has a face crafted by God.
Okay, but besides the point.
He chuckled and said bye to his cousin and walked up with me, walking out quietly and over to my house.
I texted Samantha and she got to my house quicker than I expected.
We all hung out at my house, watching TV most of the time. Justin and Samantha held a conversation, whereas I just scrolled through my phone. They got along, or that's what it seemed, as I could tell Justin felt uneasy knowing that she had sex with his bestfriend. I didn't want to stop their conversation although it seemed as if Samantha had been talking for an hour straight. Justin nodded most of the time, and he wasn't really paying attention until Samantha brought up a much different topic.
"So, when are you and Madison finally going to date?" She whispered, bringing my attention to her as well.
I slightly blushed, looking at my phone and pretending I didn't hear it since she obviously intended for me not to. Justin shrugged his shoulders, not knowing what to say since he was being put on the spot. She whispered in his ear, smiling with a proud face, and Justin licked his lips. I could sense him looking at me, as if he really wanted to tell me what she said, or that she said something that immediately brought me to his attention. He chuckled, and nodded.
"Well, I don't know," he said to her.
"Don't tell her."
I looked up. "I'm right here, you know."
They both looked at me.
"Some things are better left unsaid." Justin stated.
