"You think he's guilty?" Catherine asks me as we stand outside the confessional room looking through the glass window. Tom is inside with Ryan asking him questions.
"I don't think we should trust him until he gives information that we could use. I know that's sounds a bit crooked, but that's how you play the game." I tell her in a low, fierce tone.
Officer Tom gets up from the leather black chair and begins walking out the door to me and Catherine.
"Hey. What's going on in there?" I ask him.
"Well, he's hard to talk to." He glances at Sargent Catherine and looks at Ryan through the window again.
"So what should we do?" I ask him.
"You talk to him" Sargent Catherine says, smiling, then turns away. I scrunch my eyebrows together in shock.
"What? No I can't! What could I do for him that Tom can't?!" I point at Tom, and whisper trying to be quiet so Ryan doesn't hear.
"You can make him comfortable. People feel comfortable when they talk to people close to their age. So go." She whispers back.
"You can't make me do anything." I look at her hoping for eye contact.
"How bad do you want your sister?" She asks in a low tone. Catherine has a point. I take a big in and ex hale and walk into the room with Ryan. I smile big just so he can know I'm friendly, he smiles back. I'm a little nervous. I have my eyes on him though. One thing I did learn from lurking the Internet is that people that are guilty tend to lick their lips a lot and stare off. I got this.
"Hey" he says.
"Hey" I respond back, still smiling, in a friendly way.
"How was your day?" I ask him.
"It was actually crazy. I actually woke up in an old building.
"Oh really?" I ask him, raising my eyebrows in a pinch of shock.
"Yea, I think I got really drunk last night and just ended up there." He flips his long blonde hair and turns his head facing the window where Catherine and Tommy are standing.
"Ryan? Is there something your not telling me?" I lick my lips and place my hands on top of his trying to show him comfort.
"Are you one of them?" He asks, pointing at the window.
"No, I'm doing them a favor in return of some important information. I do not work with them."
"I'm telling you the truth, there's nothing I would tell them and not tell you, especially not you". I stare into his eyes even more and realize he's innocent.
All of a sudden Tom comes bursting through the door and sits down next to me.
"Tell us the truth!" Tom yells at Ryan.
"Us?" Ryan asks. "You said you weren't one of them, you lied to me" I give him a blank stare, not knowing what to say.
"Can't believe I trusted you". He gets up and storms out the door."Tom, he was innocent". I whisper and face his way. His mouth flies open in shock, nothing major. I flip my hair and get up also to tell Catherine the news.
"Well? What happened?" Her voice sounding concerning.
"Nothing". I tell her then turns towards the window. "He's innocent and now this case is over"
"Did you tell Ryan about his friend?" Catherine asks.
"Didn't get a chance to". I respond. I pat her shoulder. "I'll see you later, okay?"
"Okay" she says, nodding.
