Truth to be told
''Why are you lying to me?''
Jungkook knew where I was. He fucking knew, or more like he found out about it from some particular person. I looked at the bodyguard standing at the main door as if he would stand there for the rest of the day.
I should have known that the guard was too loyal to Jungkook and wouldn't stay here even if I told him to stay there. He left my parents and our kids unguarded, which wasn't a good thing. But if I'm assuming that no one is after us, they should be fine.
But of course, Jungkook told him to not listen to me. If you want to be loyal to your boss, then you don't listen to their wife no matter what. I bet Jungkook said to him he would be fired if he left me out of his sight even for the slightest second.
''What do you mean I lied to you?'' I asked as I noticed my mom had probably returned to the hallway to see what was taking me so long to follow her to the kitchen to help her. I walked to the bedroom.
''You told me you were going there to have a little getaway with your parents and maybe stay safe from what's going on. You never told me you were going to do what you did,'' Jungkook continued from the other line, clearly not stating what I was indeed doing.
''Then what did you hear from your little flower stick that you call a guard?'' I argued with the annoying voice because Jungkook wanted me to say I visited Yeri instead of just stating it to me.
''Want to be honest with me? Then you tell me so I know my bodyguard did not lie to me,'' Jungkook said sarcastically.
''If you want to know it so bad, then yes. I did go visit Yeri at the mental hospital. So what?''
''So what? So what!? You hate her and made a huge mistake going there,'' Jungkook said.
''How did I make a mistake? Huh? Tell me. I went to check up on her because I wanted to know if she was getting better.'' I threw a little lie as technically it was true, but it wasn't the first reason I wanted to see and talk to her.
''Are you even hearing yourself?'' he argued. ''Why would you visit someone who made your life a living hell? Who tried to kill me as well as our kids and make us break up? Explain to me how that makes you go and see her?''
Jungkook wasn't wrong. I already thought about why. I wanted answers and to know if Yeri knew something, but even before that, I argued about whether I wanted to see her. I could have just not gone and not seen her ever again because I still wanted to play that car in case she knew something.
''Yes, I might sound nothing like myself considering how much I used to hate her and still do for what she did,'' I started arguing back. ''But the real reason I went to see her was to see if she knew anything about the betrayer among us.''
The other line was quiet as if I couldn't hear Jungkook's breathing. The silence continued for a few seconds until he sighed deeply, which always meant he was mad.
''I told you, I will handle this on my own. You said it yourself, this is my problem, and then you go and try to make things worse?'' Jungkook said.
''Worse? How am I making things worse?''
''To start with, revealing Yeri's location. Who knows who is stalking you? Until now, no one has known she is there. I put her in that place for a reason,'' Jungkook said, and then I remembered what Yeri said.
"Yeah, the place you're paying to keep her safe and hidden," I said, which made Jungkook fall silent again. "Yeri told me everything. I knew you helped her get professional care, but I didn't know you'd been checking up on her this entire time.''
