Waiting kills

It's been about fifteen minutes since we last heard from the others. I checked it from Jungkook. I wasn't growing too worried because it took at least fifteen minutes to get to our house from the city, as we didn't live that near it or the center of it.

Even though I'm saying I'm not worried, I still am. Anything could happen along the way. And we don't know how many of them are out there, whether they have weapons, or what they are planning.

That probably made me worried the most, the thought of the unknown.

I wish them to return here safely. I am worried about the kids, too. They can see something is wrong, especially Hangeum, who constantly wants to reach his dad or uncles. When I kept forbidding him enough, he eventually just kept playing with Misuk.

I'm worried about their safety, so I won't let them out of sight. Going downstairs might be dangerous, with all the windows out there.

I didn't like the idea of Jungkook standing out there, let alone Taehyung or my brother. But we just had to trust them and hope for the best.

''Look for the kids for a while,'' I asked her. ''I'll go see the update,'' I whispered. They nodded and kept playing with them.

I closed the door and walked to the stairs and down. The guys were still standing in the hallway, and there was no sign of the others.

I walked to Jungkook and caressed his back. He moved slightly at my touch when he realized I was next to him.

''Any news?'' I asked.

''I haven't heard anything. But I do have a feeling that everyone is okay.'' Jungkook assured.

''It's been nearly 25 minutes now. They should be here already,'' Taehyung sighed, frustrated. ''What if?''

''No, what if Taehyung,'' Jimin shushed him. ''I'm sure Jungkook's father's men would have already informed us about their victory or something.''

Jimin is right. Knowing them, they'd love to be loud about it and be cocky. And I don't think they'd kidnap them either because that is something they're expecting.

''Go back with the girls, don't worry,'' Jungkook assured me, and I nodded. I let go of him and walked back upstairs, where the girls were still playing with the kids.

After playing with them a little bit, it was already late, and Momo helped me to put them to bed. Misuk is usually used to hearing a bedtime story from his father, but I'm surprised she let Momo read her a story.

Hangeum, on the other hand, felt super tired and passed out almost immediately. I shut the lights and exited his room, and at the same time, Momo came out from Misuk's room.

''Thank you, and thank you, Minji, for helping too,'' I thanked her like this much all be so new to her and different for her. Momo used to take care of the kids and has been for a long time.

''No worries, honestly,'' she smiled, and we all went down.

As we stepped down, we heard a car approaching. We tensed but relaxed when we saw our friends step out the door.

''There you are! We were getting worried,'' Jimin protested.

''We had to take a few detours as we weren't sure if they were following us,'' Hoseok said.

''I bet they already know where we live. But the thought is what counts.'' Jungkook patted his friend on the shoulder.

Jungkook told them to gather up in the living room to discuss. We all sat down, and it low-key felt like the old days we used to have. Constantly sit down to discuss how we are going to pull this through.
