Her phone beeped in her pocket only when she got off the train. Esma reached for it and soon was looking at the boy's response.

Dan: nothing much, actually.

Dan: I met with Ethan and his little sister so that we could watch my favorite series again.

Dan: sends you a gif.

The girl opened it and realized, he once again sent her a meme where a boy waved the green stick and did warrior poses from some kind of east combating techniques. The anime kid who had the power of God and anime on his side. Esma burst into laughter and then sighed, noticing how people gave her strange looks.

Esma: that's just pure gold.

Esma: I could hear him say it in my head.

Dan: Yeah, better don't fuck with this kid.

Esma: LMAO

Dan: You reached out to your grandma?

Esma: Not yet. I'm heading there right now.

Esma: Want to meet up if she doesn't lock me home?

Dan: Sure. Where?

Esma: How about that volleyball court?

Dan: you deserve a cinnamon bun for that enthusiasm

The girl blushed again, surprised that he remembered. She smiled sincerely at the phone and then rushed home even faster than before. As she was going, the girl was looking around herself and trying to enjoy the moment to the fullest. She entered her neighborhood and felt the same smell of the fabric smog. The girl then thought of the murmur floors of Fortressmain academy and suddenly felt better. Was it because she'd be able to see them again soon?

"Hi, Gramms." The girl entered her house and noticed the familiar older woman on the couch of the small living room. She sat in front of the TV and quickly turned it off as soon as heard someone enter.

"My dear, you had me all worried sick." The woman stood up and headed straight to the girl who just then realized how tired she was. Esma regretted the promise to meet with a boy but soon thought, she wouldn't have time tomorrow or on Monday.

"I'm sorry. It was wrong to run away like that." The girl hid her sight and shook her head.

"Where were you? I know, it wasn't Dan." Gramms crossed her hands on her chest and gave her an irritated look just as every grandma would. After all, the girl disappeared for the whole day with no explanation.

"I found the photo on the internet where dad stood with someone and decided to visit that person." Esma hid her hands behind her back and took a glance at her grandma, whose expression suddenly changed into disbelief. "Are you mad?"

"You are an adult. If that's how you want to spend your time, then do as you wish." Gramms shook her head but the girl knew, she was disappointed. She understood how childish that was but it gave her a great and believable lie.

"I didn't get any information. I think I should drop this search." Esma shook her head and suddenly hugged the older woman, to which she didn't resist but also didn't answer.

"I'm glad to hear that. You've grown so much." The woman patted her on the back after a few moments and the girl smiled.

That's when her stomach let out a treacherous growl, reminding the girl that she, in fact, didn't feed it since yesterday. "Do we happen to have any food?" Esma chuckled and raised her sight.
