Anne:
"Go give these to Gilbert and Sebastian," Marilla told me while passing a basket full of freshly baked bread.

I nodded and wrapped my scarf around my neck, slid my coat onto my shoulders and positioned my hat on my head.

I grabbed the basket off the table, and said my goodbyes to Marilla, while opening the door and making my way out.

I waved back to her, and then closed the door, stepping down the steps.

Soon I had passed Jerry, and Matthew, and I was close to Gilbert's house, snow decorating the outside, and my footsteps making a crunching sound when I stepped on the frozen grass.

It didn't take me long to walk up to the front door, and raise my hand.

I rapped on the door with my knuckles, and waited a few seconds.

Nothing.

I knocked again, but nothing.

When I knocked for the third time, the door gently swung open to reveal a distraught Gilbert.

His eyes were almost closed, his hair was all messed us, his cheeks and nose were bright red, and he was holding a tissue to his nostrils.

He looked terrible.

"Gilbert, you look awful!" I exclaimed.

"Sorry I took so long to come to the door." He murmured, almost breathless.

He held his hand to the side of his face, and squeezed his eyes shut like he was experiencing a horrible headache.

"Gilbert-"

He started loosing his steps, and coughing abruptly.

Suddenly he had dropped to the floor, after letting out a tired breath, groaning when he collided with the wood.

I rushed to him, crouching down beside the figure, placing the basket down on the table.

"Gilbert?!"

I lifted his head up onto my lap and helped him move over to the wall, because I wasn't strong enough to lift him to someplace different myself.

I looked down at him, he wasn't conscious, but he was breathing.

I found a cloth on the side of the sink and dampened it with water front the jug on the table.

I leaned over him and pressed the cloth down gently onto his forehead, and then his cheeks, attempting to bring him back to consciousness.

"Gilbert Blythe!" I whispered harshly, making his eyes flutter open slowly, after a lot of water on his face.

He murmured something inaudible, so I leaned in closer to hear what he was saying.

"What- what happened?" He groaned, trying to sit up, instead collapsed on his elbows.

"You're ill Gilbert." I told him, earning a frown.

"No i'm not! I'm completely fine." He tried to assure me, but I just gave him a look.

"If you're completely fine, then why did I just see you faint in front of me?"

He let out a tired, frustrated breath, and closed his heavily-lidded eyes, so that was my cue to try to lift him up, putting his arm around my shoulder, and helping him to stay stable with my other hand.

We slowly made it to Gilbert's bedroom, and I laid him down on the blanket covered mattress, him helping me by guiding the way, propping his head up with a few spare pillows.

I put the sheets over him again, causing him to smile the smallest smile ever.

As I was finding another spare blanket, I felt him shiver.

I walked over to him, and pressed the back of my fingers to his forehead, checking the heat.

"You have a fever." I said, sitting on the side of the bed.

"Do I really?" He asked me, frowning.

"Yes, really."

He started to squirm round uncomfortably, goosebumps pricking his skin.

"Is there anything I can get you? Food? Water? Anything?" I said.

"No Anne, just get home, Marilla will no doubt be worried sick and I'm okay, it's just a fever, i'll get over it."

"I'm not leaving until you're properly cared for. Marilla can wait, so what do you want?"

"Nothing."

"Hold on." I said, standing up and walking into the kitchen, picking the basket that I had brought over here and bringing it back into Gilbert's room.

"Have some of this," I persuaded, ripping a chunk off and hovering it in front of his mouth.

He hesitated, and then looked at me, then the bread, back at me, and then the food in front of his face.

"I can do it myself Anne." He said in a grudging tone.

"Well do it then, because my hand is hurting."

He raised a weak arm, and clutched the bread, taking it from my hand and biting a bit off.

"Holy- who made this bread?" He exclaimed quietly.

"Marilla and I." I laughed. "Why?"

"It's delicious." He assured.

"Thank you."

I walked back into the kitchen where the wet cloth was on the table, and I dampened it again with more water, came back and laid it down on his forehead.

"Are you sure you're not hungry?" I asked, expecting a 'no' back from him.

"A little," he said, shifting a little in his blankets.

Again, I made my way into the Blythe-Lacroix kitchen, looking in the cupboards to see if there was anything except Delphine's baby food.

At last I found a can of soup, which I know is one of the best foods to eat while feverish, since it's warm and easy to digest.

I heated it up on the stove, poured it into a bowl, and opened a drawer to take out a silver spoon.

I brought all this out on a tray to Gilbert, and he raised his eyebrows at me.

"You don't have to do this for me Anne." He implied, while I laid the tray down on his lap after I helped him sit up.

"I do though, since you can't take care of yourself, but you're going to need to be able too, because if you can't, you won't be able to take care of your... wife, and that won't be good." I hesitated on the wife part. Of course I was happy for him, but her?! Why someone way older and way prettier and way more mature than me.

Gilbert frowned and looked down at his soup, and raised a slightly shaking hand to the spoon.

It was silent for a while, until I heard someone at the door.
